Business as usual as Maricopa County wraps up primary vote count Phoenix

Business as usual as Maricopa County wraps up primary vote count - Axios PhoenixLog InLog InAxios Phoenix is an Axios company.
Business as usual as Maricopa County wraps up primary vote count
Data: Maricopa County Elections Department; Chart: Skye Witley/AxiosMaricopa County finished counting ballots Wednesday evening, eight days after primary day, which puts the count roughly on par with every primary election going back to at least 2006. In each of the past nine statewide primary elections, Maricopa County took between seven and 10 days to finish counting ballots. Context: Some critics were quick to accuse Maricopa County of taking too long — especially supporters of GOP gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake, whose race against Karrin Taylor Robson wasn't called until two days after the election. But there was nothing unusual about this year's tabulation process. "That's the irony of it . ... We're actually getting it done quicker than we have in the past, but that's not the perception with some," says Bill Gates, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. There are several reasons why counting ballots takes as long as it does. Details: The first ballots to be counted are mail-in ballots that arrive before election day. In Maricopa County, those made up about 69% of the total votes cast in the primary election. After the polls close, election officials collect the drives from the tabulators used to count the ballots cast by in-person voters on primary day and transport them to the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center. The tabulators cannot be connected to the internet for security reasons, delaying the process. Early ballots that are dropped off on primary day take a bit longer because election officials don't collect them until after the polls close. Those must be transported to the county's vendor, Runbeck Election Services, which scans images of the envelopes they're in so election officials can verify the signatures they use to confirm voters' identities. The images aren't ready for election officials until around 8am the next day, and the actual counting of those ballots begins the following day. Voters dropped off about 122,000 early ballots on primary day. 1 new-ish thing: Starting in 2020, county election officials were permitted to begin tabulating early ballots two weeks before the election instead of one week, which speeds up the count. 1 other thing: In 2019, the legislature passed a law creating a mandatory five-day "curing" period for election officials to confirm the identities of voters whose signatures couldn't be verified. That period ended at 5pm Tuesday, meaning Wednesday was the earliest that any county could complete the process. Of note: The overwhelming majority of voters use early ballots, including nearly 88% in last week's primary election. Yes, but: The prevalence of early ballots doesn't appear to have any relation to how long it takes to count ballots. For example, in 2006, early ballots made up only 38.6% of the total primary election vote, but it took the county nine days to finish counting. The shortest counting periods of the past 16 years were in 2010, 2014 and 2020 primaries, when the count took only seven days. What's next: Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer tells Axios Phoenix that the legislature could help speed up the process if counties were allowed to begin collecting early ballots that are dropped off on primary day before the polls close. That would allow for counties to begin counting those ballots on the Wednesday after the election instead of on Thursday. Driving the news: Some people who need assistance the most are not getting help. That's leading to DSM becoming a less attractive place to live and do business in, the speakers said. What they're saying: Camping along streets or sidewalks, panhandling and loitering are increasingly common, managers of and reported during an open forum at Monday's council meeting.Customers feel unsafe and trash and human waste left at sites is a public health issue, they said. What's happening: Some people experiencing homelessness are not fully using assistance programs because of rules that prohibit alcohol or illegal substances in shelters, councilperson Joe Gatto said.Metro leaders have for years acknowledged the problem and are a sobering center to improve services for those with addictions. Context: Convenience stores that sell alcohol near homeless service centers play a big role in the problem, Brandon Brown, president of the Downtown DSM Neighborhood Association, told Axios Tuesday. And the stores frequently generate more police calls than is typical of other businesses, Sgt. Paul Parizek told Axios. There have been at least 417 calls to the Downtown Pantry's address — which is adjacent to the Surety Hotel — since March of 2021, police data shows. The QuikTrip at 14th and Ingersoll near Exile has had at least 614 calls in that time. Of note: with problems at some of the downtown convenience store sites for years. The city tried to revoke the Pantry's use permit in 2017 because "the conduct of the business has become a nuisance." The Pantry was successful the case, arguing it isn't to blame for the problems. Zoom in: The hotel has called the police more than 140 times since it opened in November 2020, Allison Streu, Surety's general manager, told the city council. Some businesses like Principal Financial Group refuse to lodge guests there until the area is cleaned up, she said.Yes, but: Principal has not changed its policies and continues to book rooms at Surety Hotel, spokesperson Melissa Higgins told Axios after this story originally published on Wednesday.Surety officials have not returned multiple calls seeking clarity about the statements company representatives made before the city council Monday. Separately, at Exile, homeless people have been found camping on the property, owner . The other side: More police enforcement won't resolve the problems, councilperson Indira Sheumaker warned.Improving assistance programs and access to them is a better solution, she said. What's next: The council directed city staff to follow up with the businesses and evaluate possible solutions. Why it matters: If you're still confused about , Levine, who writes the beloved Money Stuff newsletter, offers a clear-eyed explanation. You might come away truly understanding what a crypto miner does. But that's not the only reason to read this opus. As Levine explains, understanding crypto is also a way to take a fresh look at the financial system, writ large."In the past 14 years, crypto has built a whole financial system from scratch," he writes."Crypto constantly reinvented or rediscovered things that finance has been doing for centuries. Sometimes it found new and better ways to do things. Often it found worse ways." If you like Levine for his entertaining explanations of the minutiae of finance, then you'll love his explanation of a DAO.It stands for “decentralized autonomous organization,” he tells you. Then writes: "DAOs aren’t decentralized autonomous organizations.” Don't worry: He then breaks down the disconnect. Make Money Careers
Business Relationship Building Skills – Benefits & Tips for Success
By Kalen Smith Date September 14, 2021
FEATURED PROMOTION
In business and in life, you have to work closely with others to build your way to success. The old axiom, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” is only partly true. It’s misleading, because it focuses on simply making contacts. Creating success in business is really about maintaining relationships, not just having a list of people in your phone list or contacts file.
Benefits of Business Relationships
You may have some doubts about the benefits of personal relationships, but there are many ways that close, genuine contact with people can help make your career or business a success. When you’re trying to get ahead in business and in life, you’ll have to offer your help to others, but you’ll get plenty of rewards from your relationships too.
Motley Fool Stock Advisor recommendations have an average return of 397%. Sign Up Now Here are some examples of how other people can benefit you: Sharing advice. If you’re feeling lost or confused, turn to your network. Someone with experience or expertise in an area can give you a few pointers.Sharing leads. If you’re looking for a job, new clients, an interview source, or any other recommendations, it always pays to have someone who can give you some ideas of where to go. Just one close contact doubles your chances of knowing someone who has the news, information, or resources you need.Investing and lending opportunities. You may find that it’s almost impossible to get a loan for a new business these days. However, if you have built great rapport with others, they may help lend you the money you need to get your business off the ground.Word-of-mouth marketing. Many businesses will tell you that they get almost all of their business through referrals. These referrals can come from friends, family, and satisfied customers. It’s a free, unbiased, and extremely effective way to promote your work and generate more business.Finding jobs. The same philosophy applies to people looking for a job. When I was in the job search process, I discovered an interesting statistic: Almost 90% of people look for jobs only by looking at ads, but that’s where only 10% of available jobs exist. At least 30% come from referrals. The more you focus on your network and relationships, the better connected to opportunities you’ll be.Potential partners, coworkers, and employees. If you’re not looking for a job, maybe you’re looking for new talent. One of the best reasons to keep up with your relationships is because you never know who you may one day be working with – or for. People change companies all the time. Someone who is a colleague from a previous organization may end up sharing the cubicle next to you at your work, or he might be able to help you find the new hire you’re looking for. Simply put, more positive relationships means fewer enemies, less stress, and no more closed doors.Your relationships create new relationships. If you work closely with someone who you’ve impressed, you may get introduced to someone else who will play an important and influential role in your life.Business relationships can turn into good friendships. Whether at work or outside work, days are better when you’re interacting with positive people who you enjoy spending time with. Sometimes you will just need a buddy to go share a drink with after a hard day or blow off some steam when your boss is being a jerk. Why not approach each and every person, including your colleagues, as potential long-term friends?
How to Build Great Relationships
Without care and effort, relationships fade away. If you want to have strong relationships, you are going to have to pursue them and maintain them. Follow these seven tips: Keep up with people. It sounds basic, but we’re starting to forget how to do it. You are going to have to maintain your relationships. If you don’t talk to someone for months, you’ll fall off their radar, or they may not immediately jump at the chance to help you when you finally reach out to them and ask. Keep some records of who you have networked with and check in with them every so often. If they’re online contacts on a digital network, keep your conversations going. If they’re colleagues or people with whom you’ve swapped business cards, send an email or make a call every month or so. Check in and say hello. If you tend to forget to make – or worse, return – calls or emails, use a task management system or calendar to remind you to call or write.Build trust. Never take advantage of people. Don’t even let them think that you’d do so. It’s the quickest way to ruin a relationship and build a bad reputation that can harm other relationships too. The key to building trust is being honest. When you are willing to forego your own interests to help someone else, they know they can rely on you. Do the right thing and be dependable, and you’ll see your relationships grow stronger.Network. Networking is the key to building successful relationships, and you have many options available to you. I am a member of my Chamber of Commerce, a rotary group, a non-profit board of directors, and a business incubator. I also attend as many mixers as I can to meet new contacts. However, networking doesn’t have to be this formal. You can strike up a friendly conversation with someone at the gym. I once received a job lead from someone I met at a friend’s birthday party. As long as you are engaging with other people, you are actively networking. Even if you aren’t much of a people person, you can put yourself out there a little bit so that you can make some great contacts. You don’t have to be the life of the party. People would rather you just be yourself. Even if you’re not comfortable putting yourself out there on Facebook, take a look at your LinkedIn profile. Make sure it’s up to date, and test the waters to see if you can make any new contacts online.Show an interest in others. Pretentious people who talk about themselves all the time don’t get very far. Smart people know that an early step to gaining respect and building a relationship is to show interest in other people. Listen to what people have to say and show a sincere interest in them. Ask questions about their job and kids. Keep track of what they’ve brought up in the past and follow up with them. Everyone is impressed when someone shows they’ve taken the time to remember their stories.Work hard. People want to invest in someone who is going to provide results. You might need to show them that you can deliver before you can expect them to have your back or put in a good word for you. When someone asks for something, give a little more. Deliver early and take initiative to help in ways you weren’t asked. It takes effort to build relationships with bosses, colleagues, friends, and family, and you might have to be the first one to do a favor.Focus on giving. Similarly, many people want to build relationships so that they can have someone to help them out when they need it. Try to have a less Machiavellian attitude. Always think about how you can help people in your network. They’re far more likely to return a favor than they are to go out of their way for you, especially early in your relationship.Focus on quality, not quantity. When I go to a networking event, I probably come home with 20 business cards. People want to make an impression, but not every contact has the potential to turn into a relationship. You are going to be busy with your life and work, so you can’t invest in maintaining a relationship with every person you ever meet. Be realistic, and don’t create unnecessary work for yourself. A mentor once advised me that the best goal at a networking event is to get just one good business card. However, that doesn’t mean you turn away everyone else you meet, because you don’t know which contacts are going to be the most promising. By all means, follow up with anyone who you may have a quality relationship with later. Just don’t overwhelm yourself trying to keep up with too many new people.
Relationship Building Mistakes to Avoid
With all this work and benefits, there must be some potential pitfalls as well, right? People make plenty of mistakes, so watch out for these ten: Not being personal. Some people are all business. Worse yet, they are just vampires trying to use others to achieve their own needs. Many people don’t even know they’re doing it; sometimes this behavior is just subconscious and most people would be ashamed to see it in themselves. Always remember that you’re working on a mutually beneficial relationship, and be genuine. Show your interest in people’s careers, families, and your mutual interests.Failure to show appreciation. Everybody wants to know that their contributions are acknowledged and appreciated. It is easy to forget to thank someone who shares a job lead or goes out of their way to help you solve a problem. Make a conscious effort to show gratitude for things that others do for you, and they’ll be more inclined to help you in the future.Forgetting to update. After somebody helps you get a job or solve another problem, keep them posted on how things are going. Whether they put you in touch with the hiring manager or serve as a reference, let people know how they contributed to your success. Show that you aren’t going to abandon them as soon as you get what you want.Failing to be consistent. In all relationships, people deserve to know that your good intentions are genuine. If you are good to someone who’s good to you, but they see you failing to treat others the same way, they will question your motives. They may think you are sucking up or being deceptive. Treating everyone you meet the same way helps you come across as sincere and genuine.Acting unprofessionally in bad times. Don’t panic or blame other people when the dam breaks. If things go bad, be upfront about it and alleviate any concerns by working hard to address the issue. Being a positive, team player in tough times reveals your true character. If things are falling apart around you and it’s not your fault, start working toward a solution rather than pointing fingers.Failing to admit your mistakes. Part of developing trust is showing that you know how to be accountable. If you mess up, fess up about it. People understand that mistakes are made, but lying about them can cause permanent damage to your relationships. Not being reliable. Just like when businesses deceivingly change their policies or don’t meet obligations, you can really offend someone when you’re not reliable. Don’t miss meetings, and don’t flake on promises. These mistakes can cost your relationships significantly. Your value is only as good as your word to both your colleagues and customers. Not being careful what you say. Everyone makes mistakes in conversation, but you need to avoid doing so in relationship building. A simple slip of the tongue can cost you a lot in the long run. I have seen people drink a little too much at networking events and start saying things that they would regret later. No matter where you are or who you are with, you are representing yourself, so try to be professional. In addition, if you speak poorly about people behind their backs to someone, that person will be wary that you may do the same to them.Surrounding yourself with untrustworthy people. You’re going to be judged by the company you keep. If your friends or business contacts have shady reputations or histories of dishonesty, then you’re building that same reputation for yourself. If you refer business to someone who has a reputation for taking people’s money, then you are going to burn bridges with anyone who finds out about it. I was once referred to someone who had previously been known to run a Ponzi scheme. I had to wonder if the person who referred me was getting a kickback or something. I didn’t know her well enough to be sure, but I made sure to be very careful around her and never became close friends because she had already lost my trust.Keeping too many secrets. Be as transparent as you can, whether you’re with work colleagues or with people in your personal life. If you get caught in a lie or keeping someone else’s secrets, you sacrifice trust that’s very difficult to rebuild. If you seem to have ulterior motives, you may lose others’ trust indefinitely. Relationships take a lot of effort to build, but they can be destroyed overnight if you aren’t careful. Avoid making these mistakes at all costs.
Support for Skeptics
Even after this discussion, some of you may still remain skeptical about building relationships. Perhaps you agree with one of the following arguments against relationship building. If so, consider some of the tips that follow each argument below to help you get past these issues. 1. Business relationships make it hard to leave work at work.
You spend enough time working at your marriage, your friendships, and your family relationships. You’re managing relationships with your colleagues, and just trying to get along with your boss. Maintaining those basics drains enough of your time and energy. Who has time to build more relationships anyway? Shake it off: It’s true: Sometimes you just want to shut down at 5 pm or 6 pm and forget about the hassle of work. A few of those associates, however, might be the key to your next successful step. You don’t have be friends with everyone, but try to identify two or three peers worth getting to know a little better. 2. Building a network of business contacts is never genuine.
You’ve heard the networking speech before, and you’ve heard the “it’s who you know” speech one time too many. Building a relationship just to take advantage of it when you need to isn’t what business or friendship is about. Enough two-faced brown-nosers are out there already. Why join the ranks? Shake it off: You’re right. Those people are just playing a game, and they’re playing it poorly. That doesn’t mean that you’ll become one of them just for trying to build up a supportive network. Any good relationship is mutually beneficial. It’s not about taking advantage when the time is right. Rather, it’s about shared interest in goals, and helping others in your network be successful while they help you. Never fake it. Only invest in relationships that you care enough about. 3. Doing it right takes too much time.
You’ve gotten past the first two obstacles, but accepting the importance of relationships and building them the right way just landed you at one tough conclusion: This is going to be a lot of work. Shake it off: If you want to do it right, it will take a lot of time, but the good news is that it can also be a lot of fun. Maintain your contact list, and stay in touch with these people while viewing them as more than just “contacts.” If you’re genuine about relationship building, then the whole process will come naturally. And at any stage of your career, welcoming some new friends and colleagues into your life can be a great emotional boost if you’re lucky.
Final Word
Relationships are essential to the success of any business. Work closely with people and develop a rapport with them. When you have allies on your side, you will get much further than if you tried to go about things alone. Just make sure that you return the courtesy and help your friends and colleagues by providing them with what they need as well. It’s really difficult to keep things running and innovate at the same time. I often say running a small business is like this: You spend the first half of the day solving problems you didn’t go to bed with. You spend the second half of the day solving problems you did go to bed with. Then you spend the third half of the day trying to innovate and push the business forward. Obviously something has to give." –Courtney Scott, PITT BALM 2 but you re your own boss which means you get to dictate how you work Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @heyarnold / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "This morning I took our huge beanbags out onto the roof terrace, lay back, and listened to my producer read me a script while the sun kissed my face. That was a huge perk. As long as the work gets done, we do it however we like." –Tom Staniford, Gusto Film 3 Learning how to pitch your business can be a bit overwhelming Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @southpark / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "When we started, my sister Gini did all the sales while I worked on operations, but when we started our second project, Karma Kitchen, we had to raise money and to do that I had to clearly pitch our business to investors. Selling the vision of the companies was the most important thing that I ever learned. As we grew, getting people to 'buy in' to the company was key. I had to learn everything from making a good pitch deck to writing a profit and loss statement to presenting our ideas in an engaging way." –Eccie Newton, Karma Cans 4 but winning a new investor or client can feel like a momentous achievement Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @booksmart / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Both Will and I used to work for the corporate gods and although it was great, we never felt that appreciation or accomplishment after working every hour under the sun. To be honest, it was ticking things off of lists, little pats on the back, and back onto the hamster wheel. But now when we achieve a task it's a high-five moment, and although we rarely get time to stop and appreciate our own successes, we feel that they're truly OUR successes, not the bosses' further up the food chain." –Gemma and Will, Wilma's Bakery 5 Running your own business can get lonely Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @portlandia / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "When you start your business and you work from home a lot, it can be lonely. Nobody to talk to when making a coffee or when you just want to have some banter with your colleagues. Moreover, you basically do not leave your home, so you wake up in your office, which makes it sometimes hard to switch off. The discipline side is a challenge too. It is very easy to take a day off or do household tasks instead of prioritizing the business." –Ben Brabers, Brabers Consultancy 6 but you also get to work with people who share in your vision Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @friends / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Owning a business is great fun — you get to work with a close team, all of whom share the same values and have the same goals as you." –William Bowley, Staverton Consulting 7 Deciding how and when to spend your money can be stressful Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @loveisland / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Finance is crucial for a brand like ours – we are always innovating, creating, and researching the best ingredients to use and products to make for our customers. Money is a huge aspect in order to allow us to create." –Noshin Begum, QueenYou 8 but it can pay dividends when you make the right decision Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @vh1 / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "We had to invest in a new oven. It seems like such a small thing looking back, but at the time, that amount of money seemed so huge that we decided to buy it on credit and it was the best decision. It allowed us to massively increase productivity, reducing late orders and increasing the kitchen’s efficiency. We were able to scale up to 1,000 orders a day in half the time, just down to that one purchase." –Eccie Newton, Karma Cans 9 You re not just the boss You re the admin person the marketer the accountant – the list goes on Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @mkrau / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "If there is one thing I have to choose I would say accounting, but honestly, you are never totally prepared for starting your own business. There is so much coming on your path that you do not have a clue about: marketing, accounting, various legal requirements, VAT, software, etc. You need to figure it all out." –Ben Brabers, Brabers Consultancy 10 but juggling all of these roles can help you find a hidden strength Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @spongebob / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Being a family business, we’ve also had to learn to work to each other’s strengths. It can take a while to work out strengths and weaknesses, but it is vital to running a business efficiently!" –Raste Fatah, Film Bros 11 You sometimes feel like you never stop working Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @TheOrville / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "When it’s your baby (and it is), it can be difficult to manage and separate your emotions from the business side of things. You become attached to projects, your favourite clients, colleagues, equipment, desks, chairs, that pen you once had. Shutting and cutting off can be a struggle." –Tom Staniford, Gusto Film 12 but working on something you love can be truly fulfilling Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @vh1 / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Something that was once just a thought in your mind, that you created with your own hands, now being part of somebody’s daily routine, like my natural deodorants. Getting the feedback and the validation that you’re doing a good thing, that’s pretty fulfilling." –Courtney Scott, PITT BALM 13 Patience is key Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @tlc_network / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are businesses! It takes tremendous discipline and patience to keep faith in the vision you've set out." –Sam Harding, Pinnacle 14 but the satisfaction of seeing your patience and determination pay off will put a spring back into your step Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF @nbcworldofdance / GIPHY / Via giphy.com "When you work for someone else you can sometimes lose the passion and spark that inspired you to work in that industry. Business messaging revenues to reach $78 billion by 2027 By Steve McCaskill published 5 September 2022 RCS adoption will spark revenue rises, report claims (Image credit: Shutterstock / ImYanis) Audio player loading… The value of the mobile business messaging market will reach $78 billion by 2027, according to a study by Juniper Research which attributes the growth to growing adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS). Operators hope this combination will allow them to better compete with the likes of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger and open a new revenue stream. The value of the mobile business messaging market will reach $78 billion by 2027, according to a study by Juniper Research which attributes the growth to growing adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS). Apple RCS RCS is a natively-supported messaging standard that combines the ubiquity of SMS with the rich media capabilities of over-the-top (OTT) messaging platforms. SMS revenues were once a considerable source of income that has been eroded by the widespread use of OTT services and inclusive text bundles. Business messaging is a key target market, with organisations able to send messages that can easily be verified, helping to reduce fraud.Read more > Android really wants to get Apple going on RCS iMessage integration (opens in new tab) > These are the business SIM-only deals (opens in new tab) > What is RCS, and why is Google asking Apple to repeatedly embrace it? (opens in new tab) Nearly half of phones will use RCS by 2026, while Juniper expects volumes to increase from 161 billion in 2022 to 639 billion by 2027. Juniper says organisations handling sensitive data, such as banking and healthcare, are expected to migrate traffic away from SMS to more secure channels in the near future. However one potential barrier is the fact that Apple doesn't yet support RCS, nor has it shown any inclination to do so at present – despite the best efforts of Google (opens in new tab) to convince it to sign up. "Apple must support RCS to facilitate smooth and secure communications between mobile operating systems," said Scarlett Woodford, author of the report. Businesses are feeling more confident about securing hybrid work By Will McCurdy published 26 September 2022 Confidence is up, but some fears remain (Image credit: Shutterstock / Elena Istomina) Audio player loading… Businesses are feeling more confident about securing hybrid work post-pandemic, according to new research from cybersecurity firm Thales. Over eight-in-ten - 84% - of IT professionals in 2022 said they have "some degree" of confidence in their current user access security systems' ability to enable remote work securely and easily, up from 56% in 2021. In addition, 60% of these 2022 respondents said they were "highly confident" in the ability of these systems, compared to just 22% in 2021. How are approaches to security changing The report notes some types of approaches to securing the organization are on the rise, with multi-factor authentication (MFA) adoption growing for internal and non-IT staff, increasing to 40% in 2022 compared to 34% in 2021. However, widespread MFA adoption by businesses is still yet to be the norm according to the research with just over half (56%) having adopted MFA in their organizations. The pandemic also reportedly impacted plans to deploy cloud-based access management, 45% of respondents worldwide plan to deploy this technology in 2022 compared to 41% in 2021 according to Thales. The responses also revealed a 6% global increase in plans to deploy stand-alone MFA, up from 31% in 2021. Garrett Bekker, Principal Analyst at 451 Research commented: "Just as the threat landscape has evolved, the tools and methods to handle the landscape have, too". "However, even with innovative tools and boosted confidence levels, security plans and approaches still need to adapt to the ever-changing threat environment". He added: "A greater shift towards a Zero Trust model would place access management in a central role in corporate security strategies, with a related reliance on MFA as a critical supporting enabler."READ MORE: > Hackers are stealing browser cookies to glide past MFA > This Microsoft phishing campaign can hack you, even if you have MFA > Our guide to the best firewalls Unfortunately, MFA alone can't protect your business from harm 100% of the time. Cybersecurity researchers from Sophos have highlighted that some bad actors are now stealing session cookies, which can allow them to bypass MFA as these tools perceive hackers as authenticated while they are using the stolen cookies. According to Sophos, some of these cookies were being sold on the darknet black market Genesis.Interested in keeping your business safe from cyber threats? It found an estimated 44% of the British workforce will continue to work from home 3-4 days of the week, and 20% intend to work exclusively from their own homes. These trends are mirrored in several other studies that all suggest that hybrid working will play an important role moving forward. Business in the cloud: Almost everything is in the cloud—and experts are worried FortuneArtificial IntelligenceCryptocurrencyMetaverseCybersecurityTech Forward Tech ·Business in the Cloud
Almost everything is in the cloud—and experts are worried
BYRobert StevensOctober 24, 2022, 6:00 PM UTCThe huge tech companies that run these computers aren’t afraid to use their power to muscle into their customers’ industries.Getty Images For seven hours last December, huge chunks of the internet shut down without warning. Ring security camera feeds cut out, Roombas no longer crashed haphazardly into kitchen table legs, and—perhaps worst of all for some—Tinder went offline. For companies, the damage was severe. “We’re all just standing around,” one Amazon warehouse worker told the Washington Post. The culprit? A single outage in Amazon’s cloud computing servers in Northern Virginia, where several million square feet of computers buzz throughout the night for customers as diverse as ESPN and McDonald’s. The incident, by no means isolated, reveals how much companies and governments outsource computing power to a handful of centralized services. Just three companies—Amazon, Microsoft, and Google—command about two-thirds of cloud infrastructure. That’s a problem, says Vili Lehdonvirta, the University of Oxford’s chief expert on digital economies. He talks about cloud computing companies like epidemiologists talk about antibiotics—easy solutions that, if relied upon too often, can cause deadly unforeseen contagion down the line. Lehdonvirta warns that these cloud providers have become so powerful that they already rival the power of nation-states, and that the organizations that rely on them are leading themselves to internet serfdom. “Living our digital lives on somebody else’s cyber soil—it is a concerning future,” he says. Netflix, a high-paying customer of Amazon Web Services (AWS), complains that it would struggle to function if Amazon booted it from its servers. Even the majority of nodes on Ethereum, the decentralized blockchain network, rely on AWS, a distinctly centralized cloud company that can boot off any company it likes. Meanwhile, the leading cloud companies are piling up the money and consolidating their dominance. Amazon alone commands a third of the cloud computing market, and last year sourced 74% of its $24.8 billion profit line from AWS—up from 58% in 2018. The money will continue to pour in: Research firm Gartner predicts that customers will spend $600 billion on its services by the end of next year.
Technological dependencies
The obvious solution to the threat of technological dependency would be to stop using the cloud so much and return to the decentralized computing that prevailed in the 1990s, during which companies ran their own servers. But that is easier said than done. “It’s a hell of a project to try and switch over a live system with hundreds of millions of users—it’s basically never going to happen,” says Lehdonvirta. Nor is there much incentive for organizations to avoid the cloud in the short term. “It is a huge weight off our shoulders to not have to worry about maintaining our own servers,” says one senior software developer from London. Companies like Zoom, after all, quickly rose to prominence during the pandemic by relying heavily on Amazon’s cloud computing servers. There is limited political will, too, notes Lehdonvirta. The major cloud players are split between the U.S., where Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have headquarters, and China, where Tencent and Alibaba are based. These companies are closely linked to—and protected by—the governments of the countries in which they are based, he says. Edward Snowden’s leak in 2013 revealed that the National Security Agency had snooped on data held in the cloud, and Tencent’s cloud helps police in Guangzhou track crowds. That kind of power is bad for regions without cloud computing empires of their own, says Lehdonvirta, adding they risk becoming “a digital vassal to one of the two geopolitical ‘stacks.’” There has been some attempt to defuse the issue, including GAIA-X, a cloud consortium strung together in 2019 by the European Union that protects data with EU data laws. However, even that capitulated by partnering with AWS, Google, and Microsoft. Critics say its goals have become “increasingly blurred,” having strayed from its original ideal of protecting European sovereignty. “It’s very possible that things have to get a lot worse before they get better,” says Lehdonvirta. “Eventually, I don’t see how this won’t end up the same way e-commerce did, with princes ruling over domains.”
An unhealthy relationship
Researchers are equally concerned about how the artificial intelligence services these cloud computers offer their customers cement their dominance. Companies pay cloud providers to run machine learning algorithms for tasks like analyzing images or building chatbots. Yet although the algorithms are partly trained by data that the cloud provider culled from its customers, they are kept a tight secret. “Organizations are paying twice: They are paying directly, for the price of the service, and they also pay by helping these companies train their algorithms,” says Cecilia Rikap, a lecturer in international political economy at City, University of London. For huge cloud companies, on the other hand, “the cost of reproduction to thousands of companies around the world is almost zero,” she says. “They’re selling the same thing again and again.” She says that cloud consumers are unwittingly spurring the growth of private artificial intelligence algorithms so advanced that everyone else will have no choice but to use them. That leads to “a small group of companies earning a lot of money, and most of the others earning less.” The huge tech companies that run these computers aren’t afraid to use their power to muscle into their customers’ industries. Rikap points to Munich-based Siemens, which rented Amazon’s cloud to build its health care A.I. platform. A few years later, Amazon offered similar services to Siemens’s customers, and Google’s and Microsoft’s health care platforms also rival Siemens’s services. It’s the cloud computing equivalent of Amazon’s habit of selling heavily discounted versions of popular products sold by competitors on its own platform. For Rikap, that’s a slippery slope. “At some point, the only thing you will be able to do as a company is to use the cloud,” she says. “I see no short-term way out.” Sign up for the Fortune Features email list so you don’t miss our biggest features, exclusive interviews, and investigations.
Most Popular
WellCOVID symptoms aren’t what they used to be. Business on Hold Because of Coronavirus? Do this Podcast

Business on Hold Because of Coronavirus Do this Podcast Skip to content Start selling online now with Shopify
Business on Hold Because of Coronavirus Do this Podcast
Article by Ying Lin 1 Apr, 2020 The world looks very different now from what it did just a few months ago. With the coronavirus pandemic causing disruptions just about everywhere, you might be nervous about your dropshipping store – especially given the delays and uncertain shipping times. But that’s not to say that you should stop work altogether on your online store. In addition to making sales, there are tons of other aspects of your dropshipping business you can focus your time and efforts on. And we don’t just mean the business side of things. If, like most of us, you have been confined to working from home, you’ll also need to work on your mental health to stay sharp. That way, when things return to normal and you can finally get your business up and running again, you’re at the forefront of things, pumped, and ready to launch. So read on (or listen above!) for a list of ten things you can do during this downtime to continue building your dropshipping business and keep fresh. Post Contents 1 Prepare for Delays 2 Reach out to Your Suppliers 3 Learn 4 Grow Your Social Media Channels 5 Start Email Marketing 6 Redo Your Website 7 Create a Budget 8 Find Alternative Streams of Income 9 Create a Healthy Workspace 10 Stay Sane Want to Learn More Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial
1 Prepare for Delays
Reduce or stop your ads altogether. There’s currently a lot of confusion about what can be shipped and what can’t. The safe bet would be to hold off on ads and sales altogether. Inform your customers about shipping delays. You can do this via email or even adding a note to your product pages and storefront. If you need help with your copy, seek inspiration from other emails you’ve been receiving or online stores similar to yours.
2 Reach out to Your Suppliers
Get an update on the status quo. Ask them about stock, current processing times, and how long it’s going to take to ship the product to get a better understanding of their current situation. Hold them to their word. If they claim to have stock, ask if they can send pictures of them or ask them for more information so that you can access whether you’re really able to sell their product. Place a test order. This ensures they really have the merchandise in stock and you can also see for yourself how long shipping will take. But note that this may not make sense if your target market is different from the country you’re living in.
3 Learn
Dropshipping is simple and straightforward. But that does not make it easy. Make use of the extra time now to learn and master the different aspects there are to dropshipping. Learning and preparing now helps you save on advertising costs down the road because you have the time now to dedicate yourself to it and master it.
4 Grow Your Social Media Channels
It’s the best time to be investing time and energy on your social media accounts because people are spending more time on them now than ever. Build a community and audience now so that you can use it later to establish a customer base that you can sell to or even create a customer profile, which helps with Facebook advertising. By engaging with your audience genuinely, it also builds brand credibility as your posts won’t all be about products and prices.
5 Start Email Marketing
Email marketing in ecommerce is important and useful because it’s a way to increase customer retention. Getting a returning customer to purchase costs less than acquiring a new customer. If it seems too overwhelming, consider starting small. The first thing we recommend doing is to set up an abandoned cart email, which you can do for free in Shopify.
6 Redo Your Website
It takes time to get everything right on your website. That includes product photos, graphics, etc. Take advantage of online tools such as free logo makers to rebrand and redo your entire website. Start with your product page as that’s where most of your ads (when they’re back up and running) will be directing customers to. Basic Shopify accounts include 30 minutes of free design time. Take advantage of that to make adjustments and changes to your store theme.
7 Create a Budget
Set limits. This includes ad spend and knowing when you should stop running an ad for a product as well as any monthly fees your store may incur. Establish clear next steps. If you’ve gone over your budget, seek out other free marketing channels and strategies. That way, you know what cost-free options are available before investing your money.
8 Find Alternative Streams of Income
Consider doing some freelance work for some side income. Fiverr and Upwork are great freelancing platforms on which to start offering your services. It doesn’t have to result in anything lucrative, but it offers flexibility and helps create additional streams of income, which are important things to have to tide you over tough times. If you don’t know if you have the skills required, think about what you do best or what you can learn and master. Get creative with skills you already have or look up what’s popular and in demand.
9 Create a Healthy Workspace
Exercise. It produces endorphins and is a great way to get the day started. Plus, it is important for both body and mind. Create a dedicated space for work and get into the office mood. That also means doing your daily morning routine and getting dressed as if you were heading into the office. Eat properly. Cooking at home has healthier benefits than eating out because you control what you put into your food. Eating healthily also has a positive impact on your mind. Keep your surroundings organized. Decluttering your workspace can help you feel more refreshed.
10 Stay Sane
Focus on the positive. With everyone stuck at home and naturally feeling worried, you’ve probably socialized more during this period of time than before with friends and family who’ve checked in with you or with whom you’ve checked in. Laugh. Take some time to find podcasts or books that you can listen to and read that can make you laugh. These are small things that can distract you from the dire situation at the moment and help you clear your head. A little mental getaway never hurts! What about you guys? Business Plan Template The Ultimate Guide for Ecommerce Businesses

Business Plan Template The Ultimate Guide for Ecommerce Businesses

Business Plan Template The Ultimate Guide for Ecommerce Businesses Skip to content Start selling online now with Shopify
Business Plan Template The Ultimate Guide for Ecommerce Businesses
Article by Alex Sheehan 8 Nov, 2020 A business plan is a blueprint for your business. It sets out where you want to go and how you want to get there. While you might want to jump right into your ecommerce business and start selling, starting with a business plan is the foundation of a thriving business. Harvard Business Review found businesses that take the time to draft a business plan increase their odds at succeeding by 16 percent. And one study by McKinsey & Company found that 79 percent of executives believe a formal planning process contributes significantly to overall business strategies. Business plans force you to think critically and strategically and can even help you acquire outside funding for your next big investment. So, how do you put one together? We’ll go over the different types of business plans, what to include in each section, and a simple business plan template for you to follow. Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial
Types of Business Plans
Business plans are used for different purposes. Sometimes, it’s to get the internal team on the same page, and other times, it’s to attract potential investors. Depending on who’s reading your business plan and what you’re hoping to achieve, you might adapt it to take a different layout. Here are the main types of business plans and what they’re used for: General: This is the business plan format you typically see and is often meant for external parties. It’s comprehensive and covers all areas of the business. Summary: This is a truncated version of the general business plan, sometimes as short as one page. These are better for taking around with you to networking opportunities. Startup: New businesses will use startup business plans, which outline the steps for launch. This is great for internal teams and attracting investors or lenders. Strategic: Similar to the “summary” business plan, a strategic one is high level – it’s ideal for board members and other shareholders. Feasibility: These outline who, if anyone, will purchase the service or product a company wants to sell, and if the venture can turn a profit. This is more commonly used to validate your idea. Operations/internal: These business plans are for your management team, board of directors and your high-level professional advisors. They focus on inner workings. Growth: Have growth goals? This business plan provides an in-depth description of how a company plans to scale. This is good for internal teams and potential investors. Complete: This comprehensive business plan goes into detail about finances – these companies are typically trying to secure funding.
What Is the Format of a Business Plan
Regardless of the type of business plan you use, most will include some version of the following: Title page Table of contents Executive summary Company description Products and services Industry overview Market analysis Marketing plan Operations and management Financial plan Appendix
Title page
This is where you’re introducing your grand idea. What’s the name of the business? Who’s behind it? When was this document prepared? These are all questions the title page should answer. As far as design goes, keep it simple. Add a company logo (if you have one), but otherwise, keep styling and graphics to a minimum. This is a professional document, not a school project.
Table of contents
We have a lot to cover, and it’s not always necessary to read through every single section. A table of contents makes it easier to find the sections most relevant to the reader or to refer back to sections they want to reread. The design here should also be simple (you’ll see this is a recurring theme), with a focus on functionality.
Executive summary
Here’s where we start getting into the meat of the business plan. The executive summary is your one-pager, sort of like an elevator pitch. It’s important to hook readers in at this point. If the executive summary doesn’t get them excited, what’s going to motivate them to finish reviewing your plan? So much to say, so little space to say it. The executive summary needs to be refined and focus on what will get potential investors and lenders jazzed about your idea. What’s so exciting about it? How can you instill faith in your business idea? Aside from that, it’s important to tease the research you’ve done around making sure this is a viable opportunity. Provide high-level details about: Your company mission and vision What your business sells Who your target market is What differentiates you The people behind the brand Projections and goals for future growth Tip: Write your executive summary last. Because it’s basically a truncated version of your entire business plan, it’ll be easier to organize your thoughts once you’ve deep-dived into each of the areas below.
Company description
Now, it’s time to get into the nitty gritty about your brand – we’re talking really nitty gritty. Details like business name and address, founding date, legal structure, licenses, ownership details, number of employees, and more. And then the higher-level fun stuff, like company values (an in-depth exploration of your vision and mission), short- and long-term goals, and positioning in the overall market. This is where you show you’ve done your research on competitors.
Products and services
Here, you define the item that’s going to turn you a profit – in our case, the physical products you plan to dropship. Create a list of each product you plan to offer (and categories, if you have a ton), your pricing strategy and anticipated profit margin, and why customers will want to buy from you. It’s a good idea to include a bit of information about how products will be manufactured and delivered. Will you be selling direct-to-consumer or through wholesale customers? How will you package and assemble orders? How do the orders get into customers’ hands? And how will you handle returns? These are just a few of the questions you’ll need to answer. Remember to detail some of the valuable relationships you have in the industry to reinforce your likelihood of success.
Industry overview
This is where we look at the industry as a whole: Who’s operating in the vertical? What do these niche customers want? What are the economic trends for the industry? Check out sources like Nielsen and Pew Research Center for information about consumer behavior. Other great resources to check out include: D&B Hoovers ThomasNet U.S. Census Bureau Census Bureau’s Economic Indicators Bureau of Labor & Statistics Gartner Forrester IBISWorld Statista U.S. Embassy websites (Hint: Check the sections about people who want to sell abroad for regional insights.) You can also look for niche publications to find targeted analyses and reports.
Market analysis
A lot of the research you’ve put together for the above sections will inform your overall market analysis. The market analysis is a summary of the aforementioned, plus more information about your target customer. When identifying your market, you need to consider if the size of your potential customer base is big enough to generate a profit. Use social media tools like Facebook Audience Insights to estimate the size of your potential customer base. You can also conduct keyword research to get an idea of how many people are searching for your products – and what their projected search volume is for the future.
Marketing plan
Not that you know who you’re selling to, it’s time to establish how you’re going to communicate with them. In this section, you need to account for your sales and marketing approach – how you plan to get the word out about your brand and products. Today’s brands have to use a multichannel approach, reaching potential customers through email, social media, SEO, content, print, and advertising. Take what you’ve learned about your audience’s pain points and your competitor’s strengths to inform how you’ll communicate your differentiator. Pay special attention to your website and online channels for dropshipping businesses, as these will be the main touchpoints. It’s also a good idea to outline your post-sales customer remarketing and support plan.
Operations and management
Operations and management details the inner workings of your business. A few areas to cover include: Legal structure of your business Backgrounds of the prominent figures in your business – remember to highlight relevant experiences and accomplishments for ecommerce and/or dropshipping Which facilities, equipment, and warehouse space you’ll need Supply chain and order and fulfillment processes Then, you’ll also want to detail the day-to-day operations. How are orders fulfilled? What tech stack are you using to automate specific tasks? Which reports do you run and how often? What third-party vendors will you be working with? If you’re a new business, include any launch schedules as well.
Financial plan
Now for the money talk. Develop a financial plan that details where you are now and where you’ll be five years from now. This can be challenging for new businesses in particular because you don’t have historical data and trends to go off of. This is where you look back at the other research you’ve done and use that to make financial projections for your company’s profitability. If you’re presenting your business plan as part of a loan application or other funding request, this is where you make the ask. You’ve already laid why and how your business will be successful, so potential lenders and investors will feel more at ease with the risk. More than a quarter of businesses claim they can’t get the capital they need – you don’t want a poorly written business plan to be the reason you don’t. Beyond stating and asking for the amount you need, you’ll also need to prove how this extra capital is going to fuel additional growth with your company. Outline where you’ll spend the money, what you’ll be purchasing with it, and how this will generate a return on investment for your biz.
Appendix
Rounding out your business plan is the appendix. This is where any supporting documentation goes. We tack it on at the end because they can turn a relatively short business plan into an unwieldy, hundreds-of-pages-long document (nobody has time for that). The appendix is like a reference section. This way, readers who need to validate something from the earlier sections of your business plan can easily navigate to the corresponding documentation.
Simple Business Plan Template

Title page
Business Plan: Company name Your name Date Business address Phone number Email Website URL If your business plan is prepared for a specific entity, include a line that says “Presented to:” followed by the individual and/or company name.
Table of contents
Executive summary ………………………..………. page # Company description ………………………………. page # Products and services …………………………..…. page # Industry overview ……………………………..……. page # Market analysis ……………………………….….…. page # Marketing plan ………………………………………. page # Operations and management …..…………………. page # Financial plan ………………………………….……. page # Appendix ……………………………………….……. page #
Executive summary
Tip: Keep your executive summary to one or two pages. Remember, this is a highlight reel for what’s to come. Company description Having writer’s block? Start out with something like: “‘Company name’ is an ecommerce company in the ____ industry and sells _____ to _____.” Brief overview of products and services Short industry overview Truncated market analysis High-level marketing plan Organization description Management team Quick financial projections Summary of funding request
Company description
Business name Location (both where you operate and where you serve customers) Founding date Founders Legal structure Ownership details Business ID numbers Tax ID numbers Licenses Permits Number of employees Company purpose, mission, and vision Current status and stage of business Notable achievements or milestones
Products and services
Description of product(s) Product categories (if you plan to sell many SKUs) Product development stage Screenshots, diagrams, renderings, or photos of the product Product manufacturer and supplier partners Current pricing Past test results Anticipated future products and services you plan to introduce Order fulfillment
Industry overview
Total market value Total expenditure, globally and regionally Industry projections Competitors Your differentiator Positioning within the industry
Market analysis
Demographics of target market Estimated size of total market Predicted number of sales Why your target market needs your product How and what external factors can affect sales Competitor sales Barriers to entry
Marketing plan
Competitive analysis References to market research SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats) Target audience and personas Brand and product positioning Messaging and taglines Marketing channels Marketing budget Marketing materials and collateral
Operations and management
Facilities and space needed Technology and equipment needed Production workflows Supply chain management Logistics and distribution plans Order and fulfillment processes Warehouse and inventory management Quality control checks Legal and accounting needs Founders, executive team, department heads, owners, shareholders, board of directors, consultants, and special advisors Ownership structure List of employees and salary and benefit costs
Financial plan
Current balance sheet Two years of financial records Financial projections for the next five years Break-even analysis Cash-flow projections Income and expenses Startup cost Income statements Funding request
Appendix
Articles of incorporation and status Resumes for included individuals Copies of insurances Licenses Trademarks and patent registrations Contracts Appraisals Supporting research data and references Business owner credit history In-depth market research and competitive analysis Site, building, warehouse, and office plans Mortgage documents Equipment leases Marketing brochures and collateral References Links to your business website
Summary
A business plan is necessary not only for third-party individuals, but also for entrepreneurs who need to get their thoughts down on paper. Business plans hold you more accountable and break long-term goals into short-term action plans. Determine the audience of your business plan and cater the format and type to them. If you’re applying for a loan, for example, pay extra attention to the financial plan. Even though the executive summary comes first, you should write it last. You need the information gathered in the other sections to be able to put it together. If it’s getting too long, add supporting documents and comprehensive reports at the end in your appendix. This will show you’ve done the work and provide additional context without overwhelming the reader. Your business plan is a living document. Just because you have it written down doesn’t mean it can’t change. And in today’s rapidly changing world of ecommerce, pivoting is becoming the norm. You can also revisit and revise the business plan as needed. Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial
Want to Learn More
How to Write a Business Plan for Your Dropshipping Business It All Starts with a Plan: How to Create Your Business Plan Business Plan Definition and Information How to Register a Business in the USA Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial 14-day trial No credit card
Related

Buy Now Pay Later BNPL Why Use It For Your Ecommerce Business
Buy now, pay later is surging in popularity because of the ease and convenience it provides to shoppers. Its domain name generator is an excellent tool for getting brand name ideas for your startup or small business. You’ll start by typing in a handful of keywords (separated by commas). The system will then generate a variety of names based on what you input. You’ll be able to check the domain name availability for each title before you launch your business. Once you’ve chosen your name, you can even build an entire website with Zyro.
Your new brand name awaits
Whether you’re looking for an exact match domain or a creative brand name that captures the emotion of your brand, the online name generators on this list will help you come up with a name you love. Ultimately, though, how you present your brand, treat your customers, and stand out in the marketplace is how you’ll be perceived. Work on creating a brand you’ll be proud to call your own, powered by a name that reflects your values and identity.
Brand name generator FAQ

How to select a business name
Use alternate versions of common words: for example, Flickr instead of flicker. Keep it simple. Don’t go overboard and select a company name that’s too long. Don’t copy any existing company names that are out there. Don’t restrict yourself by choosing a very specific business name. For instance, if you include a specific product in your brand name, your customers might only relate your brand to that product, which might limit your future growth possibilities. Ensure that your desired domain name is available before finalizing your business name. Get a second opinion from your friends or family about your final decision.
What makes a good brand name
Your business name should portray a positive message. A memorable name makes it easier for a person to remember. It should be easy to pronounce and spell in prominent customer countries. Long names are easier to forget than shorter ones. Seven letters or less is preferable. Names like Facebook, Nike, and Apple are all two syllables and pleasant to remember. Inside jokes are not a good basis for a business name.
What are some good business names
Great business names are never guaranteed. However, a few business names have stood the test of time and are examples of great names for companies. Coca-Cola: Named after two of the ingredients in the drink, Coca-Cola is easy to pronounce and remember. Canon: Spelled the English way, the name Canon comes from Kwanon, which is Japanese for mercy. LEGO: Lego comes from the first two letters of two Danish words, “leg” and “godt” meaning “play well,” which describes exactly what the brand created.
What are the best business name generators for 2022
Shopify business name generator NameSnack Fit Small Business OneClickName NameStation FreshBooks Hipster business name generator Brandroot Getsocio Naminum Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial
Want to Learn More
16 Reasons To Start a Business in 2021 Free Slogan Generator How to Use a Slogan Generator to Get the Perfect Tagline Online Logo Maker Free: Top 20 Tools Start selling online now with Shopify Start your free trial 14-day trial No credit card
Related

eBay Dropshipping The Ultimate Guide to Dropshipping on eBay
This post covers everything you need to know about eBay dropshipping, from finding the right suppliers to maintaining h… by Nicole Martins Ferreira Business ideas Article
13 Top Print-on-Demand Companies and How to Choose One in 2021
There are so many print-on-demand companies to choose from — what do you need to consider to choose the best one for yo… by Thomas J Law Business ideas Article
How to Start a Reseller Business Tips and Ideas for 2022
A reseller business can be a great option for first-time entrepreneurs. So he knows how to run a business. Recently, a video from one of his speaking events has been going viral. In the clip, a member of the audience tells Vaynerchuk that he's been struggling with his employee engagement and motivation. Appearing lost and hopeless, the man then proceeds to ask whether or not it's his fault. The answer that comes out of Vaynerchuk's mouth cuts right to the chase and provides a ruthless yet logical and easy-to-understand explanation of why the man (and so many other business owners) fail to lead their staff.
You can watch the exchange in the video below
Chances are, many more business owners are realizing what the man in the video has heard. As we reported in our piece on The Great Resignation, about 4.3 million Americans left their jobs in August. Plus, the problem is not just a U.S. one, and many countries around the world are experiencing a shortage of workers. It matters because it's exacerbating supply chain disruptions around the globe, with key industries struggling to regain momentum due to a lack of manpower or raw materials. This disrupts both local and global production and supply networks, hampering economic growth and causing product and service shortages for consumers. Research from Robert Half found that nearly 4 in 10 professionals surveyed (38%) feel their career has stalled since the start of the pandemic. That number jumps to 66% for workers ages 18-24. Among that 38%, about half reported that they've seen stagnation in salary growth, career advancement, and skills development. Additionally, the researchers discovered that 1 in 3 workers whose feelings toward their work have changed due to the pandemic want to pursue a more meaningful or fulfilling job. Bosses will have to offer more than free snacks to keep their employees.
Here s what people said about it
Anyone can write on Bored Panda. Start writing! Follow Bored Panda on Google News!
