I know, it sounds like a non-controversial and non-provocative thing to say, but often the most difficult parts of life are not the "in-your-face" type of challenges, but those that seep into your everyday routine and become rituals and habits. Like earning your bread and butter. At a time when the term work-life balance has become a bookselling catchphrase, many are realizing they don't have one. Even more, people don't see a way to achieve it. They're stuck feeling that the system they're a part of has been designed to maintain itself at the expense of its "screws" - human capital - and have nowhere to turn to express their anger and frustration but the internet. The benefits: An unconditional basic income would, under the laws of free markets, lead to previously poorly paid but necessary work being better paid, made more attractive or replaced by automated processes. I used to have a lot of clothes and bags (4 closets) tons of kitchen stuff. Just stuff every where. But I wasted so much time looking for where an item was or not using it because it was in storage or buying another one because I couldn't find it. A couple years ago I had a breakdown and went through everything I owned and only kept what I absolutely needed and used. My life is so much better now. I don't worry about what to wear because I basically wear the same outfit everyday. The space I cleared out I used to turn into a sewing/ embroidery room and sell kids clothes online. I still have to work a regular job twice a week as my safety net but other than that I feel so free. They spew B.S. that equates socialism with communism, trot out the s--tshow that Venezuela has become while conveniently ignoring countries such as Canada, New Zealand, and many countries in western and Central Europe where democratic socialism works. We are a 2nd world country and I truly believe once the Boomers in office go for their eternal nap, the younger Gens will absolutely take us back to being a 1st world country again. Boomers did and are doing a LOT of damage and harm. I think they're trying to do the most damage before they go to Boomer hell. It's okay. Our kids got it. If we don't all participate, we all suffer. That's the deal. VOLUNTEER for young, progressive candidates. Knock on doors. Make the coffee. I suspect that the social media savvy of younger generations will help them collect the momentum and signatures more efficiently than I could as a Gen X-er. You only have to be 21 to run for state offices like state senate, for example, so get the young ones in *now*! And don't let them feel overwhelmed by the "establishment", which profits by convincing voters and newcomers to politics to give up, that it's "hopeless", etc. (See Robert Reich on cynicism, Youtube.) Letters to editors, current elected officials, prominent activists ---- bombard them with discontent and demands for answers, and for betterment. Advocate selflessness as patriotism, not the mindlessness of nationalism. Advocate equality and long-term thinking (infrastructure expenses always pay for themselves in economic benefit to everyone), and emphasize the positives of such thinking. I used to have a lot of clothes and bags (4 closets) tons of kitchen stuff. Just stuff every where. But I wasted so much time looking for where an item was or not using it because it was in storage or buying another one because I couldn't find it. A couple years ago I had a breakdown and went through everything I owned and only kept what I absolutely needed and used. My life is so much better now. I don't worry about what to wear because I basically wear the same outfit everyday. The space I cleared out I used to turn into a sewing/ embroidery room and sell kids clothes online. I still have to work a regular job twice a week as my safety net but other than that I feel so free. And don't let them feel overwhelmed by the "establishment", which profits by convincing voters and newcomers to politics to give up, that it's "hopeless", etc. (See Robert Reich on cynicism, Youtube.) Letters to editors, current elected officials, prominent activists ---- bombard them with discontent and demands for answers, and for betterment. Advocate selflessness as patriotism, not the mindlessness of nationalism.
