I wanted to give that concept a go myself and created this. Almost everything in this drawing is a triangle (rectangles are just two triangles together). The stability of the interlocking shapes pushes back against the light flooding in, while my cat gazes outward, frozen in indecision at the threshold as they so often do. Materials were sanguine Conté crayon and graphite on Moulin de Larroque Paper (11x11 cm). I didn’t know much about pastel fixatives back then and applied it too heavily, thus losing a lot of the original contrast. I wanted to give that concept a go myself and created this. Almost everything in this drawing is a triangle (rectangles are just two triangles together). The stability of the interlocking shapes pushes back against the light flooding in, while my cat gazes outward, frozen in indecision at the threshold as they so often do. Materials were sanguine Conté crayon and graphite on Moulin de Larroque Paper (11x11 cm). I didn’t know much about pastel fixatives back then and applied it too heavily, thus losing a lot of the original contrast.
