Elden Ring Where to Find Baleful Shadow

This item is locked in a chest in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library behind Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. This chest is locked tight, and the only way to get it open is to get the Discarded Palace Key, which is dropped by an enemy known as the Baleful Shadow. Some players might find themselves unable to find the Baleful Shadow and progress the quest, so allow me to help! This guide will show you where to find the Baleful Shadow in Elden Ring. To encounter the Baleful Shadow, you must first give Ranni the Finger Slayer Blade found beneath the giant Finger Reader in Night’s Sacred Grounds beneath Norkon, the Eternal City. Once that has been done, you can use the teleporter in Renna’s Rise to reach the upper part of the Aisnel River, where you will find the Miniature Ranni Doll. Rest at the nearby Site of Grace and talk to the doll. The first two times you do so, you will be greeted with silence, though the third time will see Ranni order you to deal with the Baleful Shadows in the area. Luckily there is only one that you need to deal with. Proceed through the area until you reach the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace. The Baleful Shadow is found at the end of the tunnel directly ahead of you.

The Baleful Shadow takes the form of your good friend and Ranni’s protector, Blaidd the Half-Wolf, and utilizes a lot of his moveset. The only difference is that instead of having a sword imbued with Frost magic like Blaidd, this sword is imbued with the power of Destined Death. Since Blaidd’s weapon is Frost-powered, it only makes sense that this Baleful Shadow is also weak to Ice magic. Once defeated, Ranni will give you some dialogue, and you will get the Discarded Palace Key to continue Ranni’s questline and get closer to acquiring the Age of Stars Ending.
