‘ Blade Runner’ Series Greenlit By Amazon Prime Video

Scott will serve as an executive producer. Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) wrote the Blade Runner series and will executive produce it. Tom Spezialy (Ash vs Evil Dead) will also write and executive produce. It will mark the first live-action series based on the property. It has been a focus for Amazon as it develops the sequel to the 2017 film, 2049, that Villeneuve directed. The original film from 1982 was an adaption of Philip K. Dick’s book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the film was set in Los Angeles in 2019 as a cop hunts down replicants who escaped from their creator, the Tyrell Corporation. The film starred Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. The sequel from Villeneuve starred Ryan Gosling as a replicant who discovered a dangerous secret. Ford and Olmos returned with newcomers Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, and Ana de Armas. Blade Runner 2099 series is being developed by Amazon Prime Video
Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will executive produce the Blade Runner series. 2049 scribe Michael Green will executive produce with Spezialy, Ben Roberts, Cynthia Yorkin, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Frank Giustra, and Isa Dick Hackett. The franchise has been slowly expanding since its hiatus between the original film and 2049. Last year, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll released an anime, Black Lotus. Taking place 17 years before 2049, the show followed a replicant woman with a device holding secrets to her past. It starred Jessica Henwick, Will Yun Lee (The Good Doctor), Wes Bentley (Yellowstone), and anime veteran Takehito Koyasu. Plot details are under wraps about the Blade Runner 2099 series.
