After more than a decade of being attached as Black Adam for Warner Bros. Nonetheless, the antihero is rather confident that he’s the baddest man on the planet, this despite the fact that, at the conclusion of Black Adam , he’s informed by Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller that he’s now permanently confined to his home city of Kahndaq, and that should he attempt to leave, he’ll be put back in his place by one of her minions. 21. With the same cold, cocky attitude that he exhibits throughout his feature debut, Black Adam notes that no one on Earth can stop him, at which point Waller informs him that she has aliens at her disposal. While Johnson was initially slated to appear in the Shazam! movie, the Hollywood megastar convinced the studio to let the two DC icons have their own solo films and unite for a showdown in a future story. Cue the long-awaited return of Cavill’s Superman, making his first official DCEU appearance since 2017’s ill-fated Justice League (2021’s “Snyder Cut” is technically a stand-alone venture). Adrianna (Sarah Shahi), an Indiana Jones-esque Kahndaqi professor turned artifact hunter, is searching for the aforementioned diadem of doom, with help from her bumbling brother, Karim (Mohammed Amer), and hero-obsessed son, Amon (Bodhi Sabongui). For years, Johnson has continued to tease and uphold his promise that Black Adam's live-action debut will forever change the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe, including going after the Justice League. However, The Justice Society of America has a thing or two against Adam’s brutal ways of doing so. Johnson’s closing smirk makes clear that he relishes the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with Earth’s defender, which echoes Johnson’s frequent media-blitz comments that what he most craves is an epic skirmish between Black Adam and the Justice League titan.
