New Switch Platformer Stitchy in Tooki Trouble Gives Off Strong Donkey Kong Country Vibes Nintendo Life Update: Release date revealed! by Share: on Update: We now have a release date! will launch on Nintendo Switch on 15th April, and a new trailer has arrived to celebrate the occasion. The game has you running, jumping, sliding, and gliding as Stitchy, a scarecrow who's tasked with saving every last piece of stolen corn from the evil and troublesome Tooki. The platforming action is split up into your typical side-scrolling sections, minecart rides, and boss battles, and developer Polygoat promises that you'll discover "inventive enemies and intuitive controls" along the way. Not that there haven't been some good ones. The frame rate looks all over the place. i got excited then realized it was dkc reboot vibes, not dkc classic Still hoping Donkey Kong Country will get an official and graceful move into 3D one day soon. They can mimic... but these clones NEVER get the nuance of movement and insanely intricate level design of the originals. Looks like a fun platformer. Can never have too many.... But if you're taking the exact gameplay, visual style and just swapping out an Ape for a Scarecrow and swapping out bannas for corncobs, that's uninspired. There's no unique voice or take. Why does this game have Minecart levels? Did it make sense or is it only because DKC has it? Why is a character made of cloth and straw crushing enemies? Because Donkey Kong can? If the only point of the game is to invoke Donkey Kong, then I'll play Donkey Kong. I'd be more interested if the gameplay actually fit the character instead of a bundle of straw stomping around like a 300lb Gorilla. Why is the game so slow? The speed of the DKC games is part of the fun and challenge A complete Donkey Kong rip-off, only slower. Our goal with Stitchy was to develop a fun-for-all platformer which anyone could pick up and play (6y and up). It should serve as an initiation into harder games like DKC or Crash for the newer generation (who didn’t play the classics) and a fun nostalgia trip for the older generation.
If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask, i'll answer them here ^^ This looks decent(ish) and I'm all for games with DKC vibes. I'll have to keep this game in mind for a potential future purchase. eh, seems like it was going to be a mobile game. not for me Look really cool ^3^ what is the docked resolution of this game? its 1920x1080 at 60 fps and it schould be without framedrops ^^ well that makes me excited. I know you said this was for ages six and up. For context I finished super Mario bros when I was six. Most games are made easier than that now. Is this more like the recent yoshi and Kirby games or is there more of a DKTF difficulty level. It's going to be harder than the Kirby and Yoshi games but not as hard as DKTF it's definitely in between those two but more towards the Yoshi and Kirby games . The first two worlds aren't too hard and once you reach the second bossfight it gets a bit harder. Hope that helps! Same here.. I'm wondering what went into your decision to have a relatively large player character (or to have a close-in focus on the character). These days, most platformers of this kind use their screen real estate to show more environment and smaller character models. In other platformers, they use the broad view because they have really challenging platforming so the player can mentally prepare for the upcoming challenge and plan ahead, but Stitchy is relatively easy compared to these games really hard platformers so that's why we decided to have a more focused camera on Stitchy, hope that helps a little ^^ Yes, I see what you mean.
