Toree 2, The Delightful Low-Poly Platformer, Gets New Levels In A Free Holiday Update Nintendo Life

"Three new, experimental and winter themed levels" coming soon by Share: on Earlier in the year, was an utterly unexpected gem on Switch that we discovered by chance. A low-poly platformer with a PS1/Sega Saturn visual style, its breeziness and super-budget price were a breath of fresh air, with cheep (heh) and cheerful — but incredibly satisfying — gameplay that puts many a full-priced 3D platformer to shame. A similarly super sequel, , arrived back in October (indeed, it featured in the ) and developer Siactro has announced that a free update which includes a trio of new winter-themed levels is coming on Wednesday 22nd December at 10am PST. As you can see in the trailer above, the new stages contain plenty of fir trees as part of the winter theme, along with new festive music to get you in the holiday mood. Of the three new levels, two are apparently "different takes on how Toree would play as a collectathon", and the other one is a "linear level with a hidden secret twist". Both titles are fantastic, fun, bite-sized chunks of 3D platforming that earned them places on both our and lists. Don't want to take our word for it? He lives in Spain (the plain-y bit where the rain mainly falls) and his love for Banjo-Kazooie borders on the unhealthy. Comments ) How did I miss this game? I love 3D platformer and N64 graphics. We need more retro 3D games!! Got them both. Fantastic value of a game We're these games made in Game Builder Garage? Toree is the future of mascot platforming It reminds me of when PC gaming companies would do little holiday themed levels or sprites back in the day. This is really cool. Nah, it was made for a playstation demo disc horror game collection. The original was at least. It was then ported to Switch, and was sold for 99 cents. Then, since that was successful, the creators went ahead and made a second game that was around the same price, but has some free DLC to it now. Lovely, can't wait to torture myself trying to get all S ranks. Yes we do! I really like both Toree games (was actually just revisiting the first one last night to check out the remix level update), but I would love to see the developer make a longer, more ambitious Toree game. Even if it kept all the same simple graphics and gameplay, but maybe had a few different themed worlds, with some levels only accessed if you've collected enough stars or completed a stage in a certain amount of time. I liked how Toree 2 concluded with a boss fight, maybe there could be a few of those? I'd happily pay a few more bucks for a Toree experience that's a couple hours instead of 40 minutes! I’m pretty sure most of the traffic for this game was generated by NL coverage. Otherwise, it would be pretty much unknown. It’s pretty fun even if extremely basic. It is less than one hour but is only 1 dollar. Other indies could learn from this. Obviously not all of them that cheap, but your 2-3 hour game is not worth 25 dollars. Thanks.
