XSEED Explains Rune Factory 4 Localization Delays Were Caused By Programming Complications
Rune Factory 4 is experiencing a delay in its Western versions, and it's because putting the 3DS code on Switch is taking a lot of time. XSeed, one of the more prominent developers in the JRPG market, recently apologized for the delay of , stating that programming complications caused them to push it forward just a bit. XSeed is famously the publisher for both the bouncy Senran Kagura and the more subdued, fleshed out Trails series, whether that's Trails of Cold Steel 1-3 or Trails in the Sky. While Senran Kagura is all fanservice, all the time, their JRPG series are generally well-written, well voice acted and contain memorable characters. via: XSEED The studio has a habit of making great games and posting regualr developments for their upcoming titles, so it's no surprise that they're keeping their audience up to date with Rune Factory 4: Special. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY Among the complications in producing this originally 3DS-exclusive are transferring code, as the original title was developed by a different studio. The text files, in short, need to be adapted for the Switch. The full explanation is pretty in-depth, so just click if you're interested in the technical aspects. via: XSEED The Rune Factory 4: Special team is also going through the entirety of the 3DS game to format text for the Switch version, as well as introducing a French and German language. According to the official update, that's 750,000 words for the English version, translated into two languages. As to what kind of game the Rune Factory series is, it's basically a farming sim crossed with a hack and slash crossed with a marriage simulator. For those who want a little more from their Harvest Moon games (although a reminder that Harvest Moon's original team lost their IP Story of Seasons), this monster fighting aspect is a nice added touch. via: XSEED Pre-purchasing the game digitally or buying the Archival Edition will give players the "Swimsuit Day" DLC. This downloadable content is a bit misleading, as it's not a day of swimsuits. It's the entire game. As soon as players boot it up, they'll be able to decree that all marriage candidates must wear their swimsuits, all the time. So maybe Senran Kagura doesn't have a monopoly on swimsuits. The new release date for Rune Factory 4: Special is February 25th. The game will include a Newlywed Mode and the "Another Episode" feature. You can preorder the title now.
