Entering any store, let alone a gaming outlet, can leave you in quite the tizzy. So many games for so many different systems, and you've got a budget to maintain (maybe). The first, visceral connection you're going to have is a visual one. Are you looking for realism or a more cartoonish edge? It'll be the difference between you purchasing Doom (2016) and Yoshi's Crafted World. Pushing criticisms and lengthy dissertations to the side, sometimes a game is simply successful in its marketing. For this list, we're going to look at 10 of the best covers (so far) and why they're so fun to look at. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

BurgerTime Party

Starting this list off is a reimagined classic. What we think is groovy about this one is the exaggerated facial features displayed by each of the characters. In the back, the quick-tempered food items are uncoordinated, fighting for a chance at the main character, Peter Pepper, who is grinning confidently. Not to mention, the color just vibrates with a certain professional yet childish touch. It's delightful to see original art that reflects the nature of the fast-food biz: no matter how hungry you are, you gotta wait your turn. But why would you? It's been released for a couple of months now.

Luigi s Mansion 3

Scared of the dark? We all know Luigi is. Luigi's boggled appearance sets the tone nicely, along with the wiggly typography. We can see a bit of what is in store with the background, though it's blurred enough that it intrigues us to learn more. The gelatinous Gooigi reflects opposite to Luigi with his blank stare and nondescript expression. This cover is a convincing treat for those that have played the previous two entries and want more. Ghosts, ghouls, and boos? Step no farther. has it covered.

Dragon Marked for Death

Sketchy, fierce, and glowing. Those are a couple of words we'd use to describe the artwork for INTI CREATES' Dragon: Marked for Death. In the middle, the Empress is going toward the viewer with a stern gaze. Her dragon arm makes an encompassing circle that's not only visually pleasing but a sign that she's connected with her tribal roots. You can interpret that as an invitation to join or die--which we think is pretty fitting for the vengeful narrative of the game. If this doesn't fancy your idea of a Saturday night, you can just admire the beautiful linework for hours upon hours.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX

While you can only see a fraction of this full artwork on the Nintendo Switch case, this is downright gorgeous. From the light particles scattered about to the curvature of the landscape, everything fits so well. The reprise their positioning from the original GameBoy and DS cases of Red and Blue Rescue Team with even more depth added to their reactions. It's a well-done homage to a game that means a lot to so many pokémon fans. Now, while this game isn't technically out, this is the final cover art for the game. It comes out in March, so get your explorer shoes on and get saving!

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Everyone is here! is an accurate slogan to this . While everyone isn't truly displayed here, they certainly use up space as well as New York subway passengers. They're all mid-attack and energetic to the core. This is the essence of what makes so appealing to its audience. Not only are you playing as all your favorites, but you're beating them up too. It makes for a good contrast of images. Smash created hype as soon as its first release hit the shelves. Since then, it has remained a staple in fighting game circles as a more casual alternative.

Celeste Special Limited Run Edition

Yes, released on all major platforms, but you'll notice that the Switch version has its very own specialized red hue. It works well with the Nintendo Switch logo up in the corner and gives off a warm embrace for an otherwise cold, brooding Madeline in the middle. The purple volume of space contributes to the coldness of the whole thing but is offset by the right. Thematically, this makes perfect sense. As a limited collector's item, there's not a whole lot you can do to get it at this moment. However, the game is not hard to come by at all. Most Best Buys sell the regular Limited Run version for retail price, and that cover is bedazzling as well.

Super Mario Odyssey

You can't tell us you're put off by Mario's undying charisma. He looks like he's having so much fun, and we want to join in on that fun as well. postcard layout of images makes this cover dynamic and draws your eye to many different places--adventuring near a waterfall, swimming with the fishes, and jumping around in the big city. It's one of the freshest designs for our pudgy plumber, and there's a reason why it's In the words of Pauline, "Jump up, don't be scared. Jump up and your cares will soar away."

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Special Edition

A smorgasbord of goodies comes with this behemoth. Just analyzing the cover, we can see some seriously impressive layering and composition. The characters fly off the box and are a lot more complex compared to the relatively safe avenue the regular cover took. This says a lot about the money you're putting down in correlation with the quality. It helps that the game comes in a premium metal case. Xenoblade 2 is not a game for everybody. But it might convince you its worth a shot from this art alone.

Octopath Traveler

With art, they're all distinctly walking in their own way. Some scowl, some smile, and some are so serious you can't get them to loosen up. We imagine this is what it is like traveling in a group with a bunch of folks you don't know the first thing about. All you know is that you're connected in some special way, to make a difference out there in the world. Primrose is proudly blazing her own path while the bodies are clumping near her. They're going to have to learn to work together or lest risk failing. This certainly translates well to : never go at it alone, and prepare for the worst.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

is no stranger. This iconic, jaw-droppingly polished portrait is something in its own league and deserves a whole essay dedicated to the lengths gone to make you truly feel that you are the legendary hero this land deserves. Craggy rocks, barren lands, and a smoking volcano await in the distance. Zelda is a series that has had far and few between rotten covers and this should remain a beacon for many good ones to follow. , Breath of the Wild is a victorious example that 1st party games are still getting support and recognition among the larger gaming community.
