Johnson shared a story about Erving helping him make an important decision. While in college, Johnson had trouble deciding whether to turn pro. The five-time champion reached out to Dr. J to seek advice. During a phone call, Johnson spoke to Erving about his dilemma. Erving's response was legendary: "I say, 'Doc, I'm thinking about turning pro, you did it already. What's the pros and cons of leaving school early?' So he said, 'You know what young fella, I'ma do you one better. I'ma fly you out to Philly, you gon' stay with me. We're in the Playoffs. You gon' stay at my house, watch us play the game and then we'll have a conversation,'" Johnson said. Erving finished his career with an NBA title, an NBA MVP Award and seven All-NBA nods. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.
