Very little is known about his childhood and Sabu’s past as his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Due to his limited appearances in the series, close to nothing is known about his lineage or background other than the fact that he is an enka ninja music master of high stature.
Sabu first appeared in the Five Kage Summit Arc. He was first seen while teaching , the Jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, about music and advised him to put more soul, and passion into his music and singing to make it better. Ponta charged toward , a member of the infamous Akatsuki, as soon as he arrived during their practice to capture B.
When Ponta was defeated, Sabu got ready for a fight and approached him but was sidetracked by Killer B. With Kisame distracted by Killer B, Sabu got an opening and landed a blow on him. Killer B also attacked, but Kisame repelled both blows with his Samehada but was injured in the left shoulder by one of Killer B's katana.
Sabu observed Samehada absorbing all of Killer B's chakra as he started to transform into his tailed-beast form. As the battle progressed, Kisame trapped Ponta and Sabu in his water dome prison to corner Killer B. Fortunately, Killer B managed to rescue them and helped them to escape from the water dome prison.
Following this, Sabu watched from the sidelines as the battle raged on until he saw Killer B in a pinch and rushed to his rescue. To his satisfaction, before he could aid B, Kisame’s head came flying out as Killer B and A, the Fourth Raikage, beheaded him. It was later revealed that it was not Kisame but a clone of in form of Kisame.
Sabu has not appeared since this occurrence and thus his absence makes it impossible to say for sure whether he is dead or alive. He is currently assumed to be alive and well unless any information surfaces indicating otherwise.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Sabu’s personality. From his status and limited appearance, it can be deduced that although when Sabu is practicing enka, he is extremely composed, cool, and deadly serious.
When Killer B made jokes during an enka training session, Sabu would often tell him to take the lessons seriously. Additionally, he has a great deal of enthusiasm for enka singing, frequently moving to tears when performing and telling B that his compositions should contain heart.
As compared to other characters. Sabu was not much distinguishable and dressed in rather standard clothing. Sabu is a short, middle-aged man with heavy brows, round black eyes, and dark brown hair styled in a punch perm. He dresses in a cream-colored kimono that is fastened at the waist by a purple belt with two furry tassels.
He also has mesh armor below that extends past the sleeves of his kimono followed by standard black sandals.
Sabu is a skilled enka ninja and is stated to be quite dependable. Although he didn’t seem like it most of the time, he possesses a keen intellect and is quite knowledgeable, as shown by his keen observation that Samehada was absorbing Killer B’s after just one glance.
Despite his small stature, Sabu demonstrates considerable power by skillfully wielding a massive axe that is many times his own size. Unfortunately, due to his lack of appearance, the full extent of his abilities is still unknown.
Apart from the movie, Sabu also appears in games. He made his debut in the gaming category with the release of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact and is a playable character in the game, Naruto: Shinobi Collection Shippu Ranbu.
