The pack of Lindsay Neal, Carey Lyons and Sarah Jane Kerwin continued to pace the Yeowomen, who are ranked ninth in the nation. The three finished just seconds apart as Neal finished second overall in 19:07, Lyons was third in 19:16 and Kerwin was fourth in a time of 19:27. Winning the women's 5k race was Rachel Brown from Division I University of Pittsburgh.
Rounding out the scoring five for the Yeowomen were Erica Morelli and Emma Lehmann. Morelli was seventh overall with a mark of 20:14, while Lehmann ran in her first of the fall and finished 13th in 20:49.
As a team, the Yeowomen scored 29 points to beat second-place Pitt by 16 points. No. 10 Middlebury at Bard Invitational

No. 3 MIT at University of Southern Maine Invitational PORTLAND, Maine -- MIT opened the season with a win at the Southern Maine Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday afternoon with 52 points. Tufts University finished right behind the Engineers with 54 points and Bates College was third with 86 points. This is the first time that MIT has competed in this meet. Leading the way for MIT was senior Kaitlin Allen, who completed the five mile course in second place with a time of 18:11.45. Junior Kali Benavides followed in sixth with her time of 18:25.08 and classmate Elaine McVay was 12th in 18:33.63. Closing out the top 20 were junior Stephanie Marzen, senior Alexandra Taylor and freshman Maryann Gong, who completed the course with times of 18:40.79, 18:41.82 and 18:47.21 to take 12th, 17th and 20th.
