25 Cartoon Movie Characters Reimagined As Girls

Ever wonder what your favorite cartoon movie character would like as a girl? Well, thankfully, these fan artists answered the call. You're never too old for cartoons. Animated shows and movies are the perfect ways to remind you of your inner child. And with animated movies and cartoons getting more mature, now more than ever is the perfect time to have an excuse to go see your favorite cartoon characters on the big screen. I mean, who didn't want to cry at the end of Toy Story 3? Or grab a box of Kleenex when Bing Bong faded away in Inside Out? Animated movies have been pushed to limits we've never seen, before making it much more fun to fantasize about your favorite characters today. Some fan artists like to draw their favorite characters getting together with their supposed romantic interests, and others just like to reimagine their favorites as different animals or even different genders. Gender-bent fan art has been extremely popular over the last few years and allows artists to reimagine our favorite characters as the opposite gender. There's no shortage of female protagonists today in animated movies, with Disney princesses still dominating the screens and iconic characters like Elastigirl looking to blow our minds in Incredibles 2. But I say there can never be too many female cartoon characters on the big screen. Thankfully, we have 25 artists who found a way to reimagine our favorite animated characters into girls, and finally get our male cartoon characters in touch with their feminine side. To Infinity And Beyond

via: Pinterest.com Buzz Lightyear is a personal favorite of mine as a kid, and even now. Growing up, just like Andy from Toy Story, I always had to choose who to bring for the car ride: Woody or Buzz? And it’s funny, because I always chose Buzz for the same reasons Andy did: Buzz was just so cool. Unfortunately, mine didn’t come with “karate chopping” action, but he was still as awesome as ever with his lasers and quirky catchphrases. Woody was cool too, don’t get me wrong, but you were never going to separate me from my Buzz. And it looks like the artist and I have a shared appreciation for everyone's favorite Space Ranger. This artist not only reimagined Buzz as a girl, but in a way reimagined the movie he’d be in. As much as I’d love to see this gritty version of Buzz in Toy Story 4 kicking Zurg’s behind, I’m not going to hold out hope on it. This sort of Buzz belongs in something like the Mass Effect series. Instead of playing as Commander Shepard, someone seriously needs to make a mod so we can play as this female heroine that is Buzz Lightyear. If we don’t see female Buzz pop up in Mass Effect, I think we can at least pray she ends up in an Alien movie, as female Buzz would be a perfect fit alongside someone like Ellen Ripley. Art by .

Jackie Skellington

via: DeviantArt Growing up, Jack Skellington was one scary dude. Nightmare Before Christmas is a great movie that gives you the excuse to rewatch it on Halloween or Christmas, making it one of the best holiday flicks. But Skellington himself always freaked me out as a kid. He was a lot like a Courage the Cowardly Dog episode; I was freaked out watching them, but I just couldn’t stop watching. But as I grew older, Jack became more and more of a staple of pop culture. Now he’s on like every piece of clothing at FYE or Hot Topic. You just can’t avoid the man, and something tells me he’d be even more popular if he was a girl. This Jack reimagined as a girl looks like the offspring of Harley Quinn and Jack Skellington. I love the umbrella, as it just makes the setting all the more melancholic, and the dress looks like a perfect outfit for this female Jack to wear. She looks like she’d be San’s (From Undertale) girlfriend, though it looks like there’s going to be no pulling Jack away from Sally, who also received a gender-bend from the artist. So I guess now we’d have Sal and Jackie Skellington, if they were up to changing their names along with their genders. Art by .

That s Princess Ali To You

via: Pinterest Aladdin is a staple of Disney animation. We were introduced to timeless characters like Aladdin, Genie, and Princess Jasmine. Oh, and who could forget that off-the-wall soundtrack? “Oh, Prince Ali! Amorous he! Ali Ababwa!” Gosh, Disney really knows how to write a song. But after this fan-artist reworked Aladdin, it looks like we’d be calling him Princess Ali instead. The person really stealing the limelight in this artwork is the genie, who has also been reimagined as a girl. I can still feel the same extravagant, over the top personality resonating from the Genie whether he’s a guy or a girl. Though I’m not sure how good of a job Robin Williams could’ve done voicing the female Genie, so I guess that would be my only drawback to this reworked character. Though, I must say that Aladdin really pulls it off as a girl. The outfit still works; even the red fez hat gives Aladdin this quirky-indie look that I just can’t get over. I’m actually surprised I don’t see more hipsters try to emulate the look, as Aladdin proves the red fez hat really looks “in” for this upcoming summer season. Oh, and I must say that this artist really gave Genie some hips that don’t lie.

Diego s Sporting A New Look

via: DeviantArt Let me see all my Ice Age fans stand up! How many do we have here, one, two, what? Only two, seriously? Yeah, Ice Age definitely wasn’t a popular animated movie growing up, and I always scratched my head wondering how all these sequels kept coming out. Like, okay, maybe the first one was alright, but it was no Shrek and it wasn’t even in the stratosphere of most Disney movies. But you know who did stand out in the Ice Age movies? Diego. Diego was the Wolverine of the Ice Age films, and it was a very fitting role since he was a saber-tooth tiger. But Diego’s looking a lot cuter than usual in this artist's rendition. Diego’s glare as a girl just seems to brighten my soul; the glisten in her eyes while she still sports those sharpened fangs. But still, I honestly might be more intimidated by a female Diego, as I feel like the enticing glare is just to get you close enough until you become saber-tooth food. Female Diego might look ten times prettier, but I’d still keep my distance, at least a football field length away. I'm guessing that when this gal gets hungry that most of you aren't going to be thinking how cute she is then. Art by .

Goddess Of The Underworld

via: sakimichan.deviantart.com It’s funny how a character like the mythical “God of the Underworld” could be as anti-intimidating as Hades. Instead of being this chilling, undeniably powerful villain, Hades served as comic relief. It’s almost as if Disney wanted you to say “Haha! Look it’s the funny blue fire man again!” Instead of making you quiver they way we feel when we see iconic villains like Darth Vader or Lord Voldemort, we laugh at Hades. But you won’t see me laughing at female Hades, especially if it’s this artist’s rendition. Hades actually looks like a true baddie in this image, sporting the iconic blue fire but offering a menacing look that makes me feel like she’d end off any hero. I love the addition of the skull earrings, as I’d hate them on the average Hot Topic consumer but for some reason, they feel right at home on the Goddess of the Underworld. This is the image I get when thinking about the all-powerful Hades that is told through Greek Mythology, not the laughable weakling that was shown in the movies and television series. It’s almost as if this Goddess of the Underworld is going to step right into the movie and show our male Hades how it’s really done. Sorry, Hercules, but I think my money’s going to be on Hades if you’re going up against this gal. Art by .

We re Gonna Call Them Helena And Asher

via: DeviantArt How to Train Your Dragon was proof that DreamWorks still had it. Sorry to bitter fans out there, if you enjoyed Boss Baby or Trolls. I think How to Train Your Dragon leaves most other DreamWork films in the dust. The film featured some spectacular animation and storytelling that I don’t think DreamWorks has balanced so perfectly since the days of Shrek. And you know what was the cherry-on-top for the movie? The relationship between Hiccup and Astrid. Being a cynic for relationships in movies, I tend to always roll my eyes at the forced inclusion of a romantic subplot in a flick. But even I was getting butterflies in my stomach when Hiccup and Astrid shared that first kiss. And to be honest, they’re looking cuter than ever in this fanart. Just look at the way the two stare at each other, it honestly makes me want to shout “goals” when looking at the chemistry the two share. I also love the attention the artist gave to gender-bending these two, as this really does look like what I’d imagine the female and male versions of Hiccup and Astrid to look like. The matching braided hair, the outfit choice, and the overabundance of chemistry in this make this picture one of my favorite works of fan art on this list. Art by ODrake.

Demi-Goddess Of The Wind And Seas Maui

via: imgur.com You could just tell Moana would be a hit. The animation looked spot on but innovative, and the writing looked compelling enough to tell a great story that adults and children alike could relate to. But the real driving force behind the movie was the excellent characters. Oh, and yet another home-run soundtrack by Disney. Maui the demigod and Moana of Motunui carried this movie with their passionate songs of home, the ocean, and unconditional gloating that we saw in Maui’s song, “You’re Welcome.” Maui and Moana made a great team, and they still look like a top-notch combo in this fan art. The tattoos look extra dope on Maui’s female body and I love the skeptical look that she’s giving Moana. Moana looks good re-imagined as a boy, but I still find it weird seeing Moana shirtless and not having to report the image to my mom and then go cry about how my innocence was tarnished. It does get me thinking, though, that this movie would be a lot different if these two were gender-swapped. Moana’s quest to leave the island seems extra difficult because women have different duties than men on the island, so it would be interesting to see Moana explore the quest as a boy. But I’d love to see the voice actor for the female Maui, as I’m not too sure The Rock could hit those high notes as a girl. Art by Gidan.

Her-Cules Get It

via: Pintrest Now, before you ask, don’t worry; I’m definitely going to be adding that one to my stand-up routine. Her-Cules. Yeah, I bet I had you on the floor laughing about that one! Well, now that you’ve gathered yourself let’s talk about this new heroine-version of Hercules. Hercules was a pretty good Disney movie, but you’d be lying to yourself if you thought it was anything more than that. The songs are there, and the characters are pretty interesting, but for some reason, the movie just never reached the stardom of most Disney animated films. And I’m going to blame it on our protagonist. Hercules suffers from the Superman treatment. He’s just too much of a golden boy, and he’s too powerful. We know he has to train and what not because he wasn't quite ready in at the start of our film (queue montage music). He never reached his potential for me, but there’s still hope for Her-Cules. This gal looks infinitely more interesting than the character we get in the film. Just look at her wide-eyed surprise after saving Meg, who's also been gender-bent in this artwork. There just looks like there’s so much more personality in the female version of Hercules. Her character can be really adorable like in this image, but can flip the switch at any moment and give a proper whooping to Hades and the Titans. Artist unknown.

Jafar s Not Looking Much Better As A Woman

via: DeviantArt Now, Jafar definitely sets the bar for villains in the Disney universe. The man just looked so slimy, tricksy, and reminded me of someone who’s just way too touchy; we’ve all had that person. I think we can all collectively call those type of people "Jafars" in the future if we meet any more. As a kid, I almost threw up knowing that Jasmine had to actually kiss this man to save Aladdin. She should’ve at least offered him a breath mint first. But some would think Jafar would look slightly better as a woman. Well, you’d be pretty much wrong. Even Iago is closing his eyes so he doesn't have to look at her. Though I don’t get the same vibes as male Jafar, I still get some pretty bad vibes here. In this fan art, I just can’t separate female Jafar from some way too serious nun that is preparing to slam her ruler on your desk the second you don’t pay attention. Female Jafar is definitely a lot less creepy than male Jafar, but you still couldn’t pay me enough to have to share five minutes with any version of this character. I’m still trying to think of a good name for this female version but the best I got was "Jafaranista." It's far from my best work, but I don't see you coming up with anything better! Art by .

Ms Minnions

via: Confession time: I pretty much hate the Minions. Now, don’t get me wrong, Despicable Me is definitely another story, as the first and second movie were without a doubt some of the funniest animated movies of the decade. I never saw the third one, but with South Park’s Trey Parker voicing one of the characters, it’s probably another hit. But boy, did I regret spending my money to see the Minions movie. The gimmick the Minions have is definitely funny, but only really if handed to you in small doses. They work great in the Despicable Me films, as they are in front of the camera for no more than five minutes to say something like “Banana!” It’s funny here and there, but not for an hour long movie, at least in my opinion. Please don’t line up at my doorstep with pitchforks in hand if you hate everything I’m saying. Regardless of where we all stand on the issue, I don’t think anyone could’ve imagined them looking like full-fledged women in this fan art. Not only are the Minions looking radically different, they’re actually looking pretty good. Never thought I’d say that about the former yellow blobs, but their new look is just too fresh. I also love how the end girl on the right still speaks in Minion-gibberish and just says “banana.” Gru had better replace his Mike and Ike sized workers with these all-around improved ladies. Art by .

Benny Or Bernadette Finally Got Her SPACESHIP

via: DeviantArt Oh, boy, did I think The Lego Movie would flop. I grew up loving me some Legos, but was reasonably worried about how the toy would translate to film. And I stand here today to say I’ve never been so happy to be wrong. The Lego Movie was a smashing success with a big part of that being attributed to its hilarious group of cast and characters. Emmett stole our hearts, Wildstyle stole the show, and Benny, well, Benny is just awesome. Never before had I been so motivated to see a character achieve his simplistic objective of building and riding a spaceship. And in this fan art, it looks like Benny achieves this goal as a lady. Benny, or Bernadette as we will now call her, looks just as elated as Benny did when he realized he had the keys to go ride off into the stars in a spaceship. I also love that even the vacuum of space isn’t enough to erase her smile, as I’d assume myself and many others would be too busy suffocating to enjoy our spaceship. But a lack of oxygen isn’t going to ruin Bernadette’s fun. I also like the choice to not give her a helmet because now we get to see her luscious blond hair, I can only hope that Benny from The Lego Movie also has some golden-blond hair under his helmet. Baymax Might Need A Bigger Chestplate

via: lightcolorsart.deviantart.com Uh, Baymax? Something seems different about you today, and I'm really trying not to point it out, but I think you're going to need a bigger chest plate. Sorry, Hiro, I think you might’ve built one that’s just a tad too small for our female robot over here. I’m glad I wasn’t drinking a glass of water when I saw this gender-bent Baymax, because it all would’ve immediately been spat out if I saw this artwork for the first time. Female Baymax is easily one of my favorites on the list and Hiro’s look of astonishment makes this artwork just too perfect. I like the small details included in the artwork as well, such as the long eyelashes on Baymax or the new look she's sporting with that purple outfit. No longer is Baymax rocking the vibrant red colors of his old outfit, but now our robot friend has a much more mellow purple colored costume. I honestly love the outfit change and the fact that Baymax now has to wear an undershirt under her costume, though I definitely believe it's being stretched out as we speak. Hopefully, Hiro can find a better size for her female friend, though I don’t think I’ll truly get over the look of disbelief that Hiro is giving the audience. 10/10 artwork right here. Art by .

Emperor s Got A New Groove

via: Pinterest The Emperor can now join the ranks of our gender-bent Disney characters, and she’s looking just as charismatic as the male emperor. Whenever discussing Disney movies, it seems that The Emperor's New Groove always gets left out of the shuffle and the popular opinion surrounding the movie is that it’s extremely underrated. And honestly, I don’t remember much about the flick besides the loveable side-kick Kronk and the Emperor’s personality. It seems that his over-the-top personality translated very well to the gender-bent version of the Emperor. This character looks prepared to take over the world, sporting flashy jewelry and showing off her vivacious personality through her red dress. I’m also really digging the “Boom Baby!” comment surrounding the art, as it definitely seems that the Emperor has kept his larger than life personality and brought it into this female version of himself. All this talk about the Emperor really wants me to see them bring back the series, whether it’s on the big screen or restart the animated series. And there’s no better way to reimagine the series than to give it an all-new female protagonist. Female Emperor is just working it too hard to not get some recognition, so c'mon, Disney, we can even split the profits 50/50. Art by Philip.

Peter Pan Nope Petra Pan

via: DeviantArt Did you ever wish that Peter Pan would magically fly into your house one night and take you away to the mystical lands of Neverland? Well, to be honest, I never have or will, but figured it was a narrative that some of you were bound to have had as kids. I more or less wanted to be Peter Pan. The idea of being able to float in midair and fight baddies like Captain Hook while simultaneously mocking him was great. Peter Pan was a great hero, and it seems that way for Petra Pan, too. Not sure if there’s a better female-version name for Peter, but I think this is going to be the best we’re going to get. Petra Pan seems to have this air of adorableness while masking her cunning side that we all know she still has to have. Her cuteness is elevated more standing next to Wendy, who now looks more like a Wendall due to his gender-bent rendition we see here. What I’d love to see is this female Peter Pan take on a female Captain Hook. I feel like there’s just so many possibilities of how that could go down, with all of them being amazing to see. Still, I have the bad feeling that the female Captain Hook might be even uglier than the female Jafar. How could that be possible? I don't even want to know. Art by .

No One Fights Like Gaston Or Rocks Heels Like Gaston

via: miranh.deviantart.com “No one's lip’s as incredibly red as Gaston. For there's no woman in town half as womanly!” Gaston's song still bangs 27ish years later, and it will forever be a banger. Gaston might just look like a cliche jock-type villain, but he’s easily one of the best villains Disney’s ever put to screen. His arrogance mixed with undeniable charm brew a bad guy that we’ll never forget. And if you throw on Gaston’s song, then you will never fail to get a room up and singing along to this classic jam. Gaston is the villain that we love to hate, and I’m really liking how this artist reworked this character into a girl. The outfit definitely works for both guys and girls, as we can definitely see, but I still love that you can see hints of Gaston’s haughty personality. There's the “Oops, sorry, didn’t see you there" look, and she still has a pretty sizable build. I’m just curious how the movie would’ve gone down if Gaston was a girl. Would she be the object of every eye instead of being the man that made you ashamed of your inferior physique and personality? Well, either way, I guess both characters would still have their larger than life personalities, and that’s all I need. Art by .

Elegance And The Beast

via: DeviantArt Continuing on with our Beauty and the Beast theme, we can now see our two main protagonists gender-bent and reimagined through fan art. And these two don’t lose an inch of their adorableness after gender-swapping. In fact, I feel like they might’ve gotten an upgrade in the cuteness category. If you thought Nala’s infamous love stare from Lion King was alluding to something special later on, then you’re going to see some parallels between that and this artwork. The way Beast stares at the male Belle should set the bar for how two people in a relationship should look at each other. I mean, if any of my exes ever gave me that look, I think I’d have to drop down on one knee and pop the question. The big question regarding this fan art is what Belle’s name would be if she adopted a more masculine name to fit her new gender-bent character. See, many people want to say name him "Handsome," but that just sounds like the easy answer. I think we should go with "Elegance and The Beast." It obviously doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as Beauty and the Beast, but I think this name will fit the bill. I dare anyone to try and top me in the name department on this one, because I don’t think we can do better than this. Art by .

Lightning Is A Queen

via: DeviantArt Cars is definitely Pixar’s Achilles heel when it comes to movies. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad, or at least not terrible (for the most part). They’re just not at that level of Pixar quality that we’ve all come to know and love. Even if you're the biggest Cars fan in the world, make a Disney/Pixar styled March Madness bracket and watch Cars lose in the first round every time. Lightning McQueen is the protagonist in the films, and he has his moments, but I think I'd like him a lot more if he were transformed into a girl, like in this fan art. Her outfit is extremely stylish and sporty, and I also love that she’s wearing a lightning necklace reminiscent of her character. I swear, these artists really know how to get down the small details. It looks like Lightning’s rival Francesco Bernoulli also got a gender-bent reimagining, as both of these gals look to out-style each other. Turning the cars into humans made me think up a pretty cool theory: what if these were the gals driving the cars in the movies the whole time? Every car now gets a driver, and I feel like it would be an insanely cool idea if Lightning was driven by a girl who could match his competitiveness and hot-headed nature while still looking pretty good. Kung Fu Panda Karate Kicks Our Hearts Ouch

via: boards.fireden.net Awww, Po’s actually looking extra cute today with Tigress, and for once doesn’t look like he’s ready to eat a full course-buffet. Surprisingly enough, I never realized there was a community that wants these two to get together, regardless if they're gender-bent or not. Tigress and Po would make a great couple, even though I never thought of it before. But I’m not the least bit surprised that there are communities begging for their romance. I mean, we’re in the age of the internet, after all, and I’m 100 percent sure people have thought of weirder stuff. I never thought Tigress and Po had romantic chemistry, but apparently, there are people out there clamoring for these two to get together. Personally, I think this relationship would have a better chance if both were gender-swapped. Just look at how bashful Tigress is looking just by standing next to Po; it’s honestly too cute. And it looks like Po can finally put the moves on Tigress without fear of getting punched in his gut. The only drawback to this gender-bend is that we might have to lose Po’s voice actor, Jack Black. But I can see a few women filling in for this female Po. Maybe Bart Simpson’s voice actor Nancy Cartwright, or even Melissa McCarthy. Or I bet even Tom Kenny could pull this one off. Let's get working on this female Po, DreamWorks. Artist unknown.

Me Tarzana You John

via: DeviantArt Looks like these two are more than just “strangers like me” as we can see Tarzan and the now gender-bent version of Jane getting pretty close with each other up in that tree. Okay, I'll try to cut back on the terrible puns from here on out, but sometimes I just can't help it. This gender-bent Tarzan actually came out pretty well, yet I’m a bit skeptical of its accurateness. I feel like a savage female in the middle of the jungle wouldn’t look half this good. There would be no makeup, no razors, or even toothbrushes. So I feel like this female version of Tarzan should be equipped with no teeth and definitely no lipstick, unlike what we see in this fan art. Though I definitely have to play Devil’s advocate here, as I guess this treatment wasn’t done for the male Tarzan either. I don’t even know how I never thought of this plot hole before; male Tarzan should have a beard 10 miles long and should smell so bad that Jane faints from just looking at him. But if we ignore realism, then we do have ourselves a pretty cool female Tarzan. I also think the dreads work a lot better on female Tarzan than male Tarzan. Kind of reminds me of a much more savage Michonne from The Walking Dead. Art by .

Rapunzel Let Down Your Beautiful Beard

via: DeviantArt Now, I do feel like the artist missed the mark a little bit with this one. Don’t get me wrong, the artwork itself is one of the best on the list, but giving the gender-bent Rapunzel a mile-long beard would be an insanely clever detail. I mean, of course, the obvious choice is to give him long hair just like his female counterpart. But giving him the long beard would be a genius detail. We'll let it slide this time. But I think the best character to get reworked in this art piece is Flynn Rider. She kind of reminds me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast if Belle gave up her role as a princess, divorced the beast, and said, "I’m going to go out with this Rapunzel dude now." This female version of Flynn legitimately looks like a character that you would see in a quality Disney movie. So kudos to the artist for that. But this one really shines with all the extra details packed in. I just love that the villains were shown here as well, and even they got gender-bent for this picture. Gothel looks extra creepy and weird with his scruffy goatee. I feel like I’m looking at Weird Al if he decided to cut his hair a little and grow out the grossest goatee ever. Art by .
