PRESENTED BY Creighton is ranked at No. 5 in the latest NSCAA poll released Tuesday afternoon, following a two-match split last weekend at the Stihl Classic hosted by Old Dominion. The Jays’ 2-1 double-overtime victory against Old Dominion on Friday coupled with their 3-2 double-overtime setback against William & Mary on Sunday dropped the Bluejays from their perch at No. 1 after one week. The match between the Jays and the Red Storm highlights homecoming festivities at Creighton this weekend and will be the first Big East men’s soccer match for the Bluejays. It also will be the first Big East match to be contested at Morrison Stadium. Creighton will also meet Michigan State on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. After scoring a pair of first-half goals, then-No. 11 Cal State Northridge (6-0-0) held on to upset No. 9 New Mexico (3-1-1) by a score of 3-2 on Sunday night at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Matadors earned their first victory against the Lobos in Albuquerque. The Matadors also earned another weekend win thanks to a pair of goals by Sagi Lev-Ari. CSUN defeated Central Arkansas 4-1 in the outing. With the pair of wins, the Matadors extended their best start since 1987 to 6-0-0 on the season and moved up the poll to No. 3. Cal State Northridge will have to stand its ground in the coming weekend, taking on the likes of UNLV on Friday and No. 11 UCLA on Sunday.
