Report Home Most of the AARP members in West Virginia who completed this September-October 2007 AARP survey think data breach notification legislation is important, they support it, and they would be more likely to vote for a candidate that supported such legislation. The survey tapped the opinions of 1,019 West Virginia AARP members age 50+. Over nine in ten respondents said it is important to make businesses, government, health care providers, and other organizations notify them if there has been a breach in the security of their personal data. Nine in ten respondents indicated they support the West Virginia state legislature enacting data breach notification legislation. Less than one percent said they oppose such legislation. Seven in ten respondents said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports data breach notification legislation.
