International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) mission and vision is “to create excellence in local governance by developing and fostering professional management to build sustainable communities that improve people’s lives worldwide.”The decisions made by ICMA's members affect millions of individuals in thousands of communities, including small towns, large metropolitan areas, and everything in between.Key Points
ICMA’s core activities include:advocacy; an annual conferencewhere local government managers come together to network, discuss key management issues, and review major local government decisions, amongst other things; ethics education and training; and survey research. Further details regarding all of these activities are available on the ICMA website, along with news and events of interest to members and other local leaders; links to state associations, related associations, international affiliates, and local governments; and information regarding ICMA priorities.
