Nominate an Outstanding Woman of Color 50 Advocacy
Nominations are now being solicited, and the names of women selected for recognition will be announced on Oct. 12 at a “Celebrating Women of Color Making a Difference in Wake County” event at Raleigh’s Poplar Springs Christian Church.
The awards actively support and celebrate the mission of both AARP and the Older Women’s League in honoring women leaders of color age 50-plus. Many such leaders have devoted extraordinary time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and citizens are asked to nominate such a woman leader who has been an inspiration in their life.
Nominees should meet the following criteria:
Demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative
Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community Assist women in reaching their full leadership potential
. You may include additional pages of supporting documentation, although the total application is not to exceed four pages. A planning committee made up of a diverse group of leaders from across the community will screen all nominations and will contact each of the nominees for any additional information they may wish to provide in support of the nomination.
