State Profiles Reforming the Health Care System 2003

This compilation of state profiles offers readers a snapshot of each state's health care landscape by providing comparable state-level and national data for nearly 100 indicators—information that is otherwise difficult to obtain from a single source. Developed to help inform policy discussions among health care leaders throughout the United States in both the private and public sectors, this compendium has been published by the AARP Public Policy Institute annually since 1990 and biennially since 2001. The 12th edition, by Lynda Flowers, Ryan J. Cool, and Molly E. Melvin, includes state profiles, recent data on state demographics, expenditures and financing, health status, health coverage and the uninsured, available resources, Medicare, Medicaid, utilization of services, and key trends. Also included are state rankings for nearly every health care indicator and state maps on current health care reform issues. In addition to the full report, a profile for each individual state is available separately. (See below for links to state reports.) For further information, please contact Lynda Flowers at 202/434-3889. To request a copy of the full report, "State Profiles Reforming the Health Care System 2003," please contact Janett Gasaway at 202-434-3890. (286 pages)
