It's basically a makeover show, but it's also so much more. The "Fab Five" spend time fixing each guy's look, home and emotional wellbeing. Why it's so wholesome: It's just nice watching people being nice to each other. You get to literally watch men transform, break up with toxic masculinity and learn to really love themselves. It's a family sitcom that shows a Cuban family living in America. Yes, it's shot in front of a live studio and it comes with laugh tracks, but it's really good and really important. It focuses on modern issue in a fearless and honest way. Why it's so wholesome: So many reasons! Every character is just so great and adds so much to the show. There is a lovely storyline where the teenage daughter realises that she's a lesbian and comes out to her family. It's just so beautifully written and so relatable. It isn't shy about tackling topics such as guns, police brutality, the n-word and the sex talk. Why it's so wholesome: It addresses tough, complex topics in a meaningful way, that also happens to be funny and educational. It's just great family telly. The show is about two women, who after more than 40 years of marriage, are told by their husbands that they are gay and in love with each other. Why it's so wholesome: You get to watch the development of Grace and Frankie's beautiful friendship. It's also so lovely to watch life from the perspective of older women. It focuses on Elenor Shellstrop, who is selfish, immoral and basically a bad person but has somehow ended up in heaven. Mainly because she is the kind of dick we all are, and watching her get better makes us want to be better. Also you learn a lot about philosophy. The obvious culture clash is presented so well, it's sensitive and also very funny. Why it's so wholesome: The show doesn't make fun of the Asian culture or the American culture, instead the jokes are fresh, interesting and just really good. It mainly focuses on Adam, who is the geeky baby of the family. Why it's so wholesome: It gives you that lovely nostalgia feeling. It's so nice to see all the 80's references, ugly jumpers and ghostbusters included. Also the family is just so believable, they simultaneously hate and love each other like all families. Streaming on: All4 8 When Calls The Heart Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF When Calls The Heart / Via Hallmark Channel When Calls The Heart is set in 1910 and it shows the main character Elizabeth Thatcher, who moves out of the protective wing of her family in the big city to her first teaching job in the small mining town. Why it's so wholesome: It's made by Hallmark, so of course its going to be wholesome. What's nice is that every episode reinforces the value of working together and helping other people. It's all so uplifting. The storyline is as ridiculous as it is wholesome. Why it's so wholesome: The show basically laughs at itself, which makes it really enjoyable. Also it deals with sex, religion and relationships in a brilliant way. It's a coming of age show that focuses on what it means to be a freshman of high school. Why it's so wholesome: It's based on Luke and his nerdy friends, who are just really cute. Also the relationship between Luke's single mum and his principal who is also a single parent, is really freaking heartwarming. Streaming on: Netflix 11 Cheapest Weddings Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Cheapest Wedding / Via Netflix Like the name suggests Cheapest Wedding follows couples on a tiny budget as their try to make they weddings magical. Why it's so wholesome: Wedding shows are great, mainly because it's about love, and I mean who doesn't like love. And also you find yourself rooting for the couples, because you just really want them to win and have a nice day.
