First, we get the news that a Quality Street advent calendar is being launched this Christmas (and getting a pick’n’mix stand at John Lewis), then we heard that Cadbury’s is making a special Dairy Milk bar in honour of the 100th year anniversary of WW1. And now, it has been confirmed that a Celebrations advent calendar is coming our way too. Tesco Celebrations 3D Large Advent Calendar, £8, Tesco That’s right – for the first time ever Mars are releasing a Celebrations advent containing the same mix of chocolates known and loved in the festive tins. The confectionery company will launch not one but two different advent calendars – one in a traditional design and one 3D version. The latter is currently exclusively sold in Tesco, while the former will be available in all supermarkets come November. Priced at £8, the 3D calendar contains 273g of chocolate and is right on trend with this year’s three-dimensional advent calendar craze. However, if you’re not a fan of 3D or simply prefer a more traditional looking advent calendar, you can get your hands on one for just £5. As per usual, the calendar contains a different chocolate behind each of its doors, from the 1st December, right the way through to Christmas Day on the 25th. On Christmas Eve, however, customers are treated to two chocolates. Though, you shouldn’t expect to find the Galaxy Truffle. Morrisons Celebrations Advent Calendar, £5, Morrisons Last month, a Twitter-user began a petition to bring back the popular chocolate to the Celebrations tins, seven years after it was replaced by the mini Twix bar. In hopes of reaching 10,000 signatures, Sean Duggan has named his petition Bring back the Galaxy Truffle to Celebrations. ‘This petition has been made so people are aware that the Galaxy Truffle was taken away from the Celebrations chocolates. Apparently, they were taken away due to them being too expensive for production and so were replaced with the Twix,’ he wrote in his manifesto. ‘Let’s get the Truffle back and let the company know that we don’t want something that was so popular to be replaced with something so mediocre. Let us show not only the heartbreak of something so delicious being taken away, but to show that this should never happen again!’ No changes have been been thus far, and unfortunately we don’t think Mars are planning on bringing back the Galaxy Truffle any time soon. Still, we can dream!
