YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion This is exactly what’ s been flying off the shelves at Primark since it reopened By You Magazine - July 3, 2020 When non-essential shops reopened in England on 15 June, one shop in particular attracted huge queues that snaked around the block – Primark. Getty Images Shoppers were keen to get back inside the budget store, which is not surprising considering it’s one of the very few high street brands that doesn’t sell online. And it seems those long queues have translated to good news for Primark, as The Times reported that sales are bouncing back at the brand and in the week ending 20 June, ‘trading in England and Ireland was ahead of the same week last year’ – a good indicator that the British high street may just recover from coronavirus after all. Getty Images So what exactly is it that shoppers are going mad for at Primark since the June reopening? Well, it seems the need for summer essentials are helping to prop up a lot of those sales, with Grazia reporting that womenswear has performed at above average in all regions. T-shirts, shorts, summer dresses, sandals and sunglasses have all seen a high demand from shoppers, as the warm and sunny weather continues. It was reported that flip-flops are in the top three bestsellers for footwear, while Primark’s cotton pyjama sets have also performed very well – not surprising considering the hot and humid nights the UK has experienced recently. Getty Images What is surprising, however, is the item that has taken the top bestselling spot of the entire store’s stock. The first surprise is that it resides in the brand’s beauty department. Now, many women will attest to wearing markedly less make-up during lockdown, turning to a light coverage of the basics if needs must for a Zoom meeting or Friday night FaceTime with the girls. However, it appears many of us have been missing the eye-widening properties of fake lashes, as no less than a whopping 800,000 sets of falsies have disappeared off the shelves since Primark stores reopened less than a month ago. Now that is an eye-opening revelation.
