But while some might be preparing for parties, doing their own fireworks or heading for meals out, some of us are putting our feet up and simply enjoying the in-between. Getty Images You’ve probably heard the term being thrown around in the lead up to the festivities, and like us, you probably thought it had something to do with a chocolate bar when you first did. However, Twixmas is actually the word used to label those all-important relaxation days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. So, once Christmas Day has been and gone, you’ve polished off all the leftovers in the fridge on Boxing Day and watched every festive film there is, what does one do with themselves? Well, you indulge in Twixmas, of course. READ MORE: This is how you can double your annual leave in 2022 Marked from the 27th to the 30th December, Twixmas is the period where it is officially acceptable to stay in your PJs for three days straight if you wish, and do nothing but binge-watch everything on your Netflix list. But why exactly is it called ‘Twixmas’? For those who don’t know, the word itself actually comes from the old English phrase ‘betwixt’, which means between. So you see, it’s a lot more fitting than it may sound at first. Getty Images It’s the perfect time to recharge your batteries, wind down from all that festive fun, and browse the winter sales. So if you’ve yet to buy the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit, make the most of those last few days of the month. But all in all, it’s a time where not much is going on and everyone seems to be OK with it (including us!).
