YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity Mary Berry’ s new TV show is a joyous celebration of comfort food By You Magazine - June 1, 2020 Queen of the kitchen (and our hearts) Mary Berry is coming back to our screens, and her new show sounds like it could be our favourite one yet. Mary Berry’s Simple Comforts is set to air on BBC Two later this year, and will serve up plenty of the reassuring, comforting dishes we’re craving in these unpredictable times. Rex Features The series completed filming in January, when travel was far more straightforward, and so follows Mary meeting a range of people both in the UK and abroad to learn more about their favourite heartwarming dishes, as well as translating them into her own repertoire. The result is an array of ‘fuss-free recipes that can warm the cockles and lift the spirits’ – delicious escapism at its finest. Rex Features ‘At this difficult time I hope my new series, Simple Comforts, will provide viewers with just that and help put us back on an even keel with recipes to enjoy and make at home,’ says Mary. ‘I loved filming the series – a fond memory of a time when we could travel outdoors.’ ‘Mary Berry is still the queen of home cooking,’ says Karen Ross, managing director of Sidney Street, the same production company behind previous series including Mary Berry Everyday and Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking. ‘There is no one else we want to turn to when we are looking for something comforting to cook at the end of a very long day. Rex Features ‘This series is a celebration of all those wonderful just-sink-into dishes, all brought alive by Mary’s incredible skill, humour and her joy of cooking!’ There’s no confirmed release date for Mary Berry’s Simple Comforts as of yet, but we do know that it will be aired on BBC Two later this year. Here’s hoping they don’t keep us waiting too long.
