YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Celebrity The start date for the Great British Bake Off 2019 has finally been confirmed By You Magazine - August 14, 2019 The time has finally come! We have an official start date for this year’s series of the Great British Bake Off, courtesy of Channel 4’s Twitter account. The exciting news was revealed alongside an amazing picture of the cast – judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, and hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, at a very extravagant tea party. ‘There ain’t no party like a Mad Hatter’s tea party. #GBBO returns Tuesday 27th of August at 8pm,’ the channel wrote, making the days of bakers across the nation. Set to a cover of ‘All Together Now’ by The Beatles, the advert got fans of the show seriously excited about this year’s bakes, and which ones will impress the panel enough to receive the coveted Hollywood handshake. But although the set-up is tried, tested and very much loved, Prue revealed earlier this year that she’d like to see some aspects of the challenges done a little differently. When asked by Good Housekeeping about the change she’d most like to see to the show’s current format, Prue admitted: ‘I always want to see more savoury stuff but it’s quite difficult because savoury stuff is mostly brown [and difficult to look appetising for TV].’ We have to admit she has a point – it’s hard to add rainbow buttercream or sprinkles to a pie or pastry – but we’ve got our fingers crossed that this year’s bakers will have some creative ideas up their sleeves. Channel 4 Back in October, Sandi Toksvig, who joined the show’s line-up two years ago along with Prue and fellow presenter Noel Fielding, assured fans that not only will the show remain on Channel 4 for a third season, after moving over from the BBC in 2017, but also that the line-up of hosts and judges will remain the same. ‘We are good to go,’ she revealed to The Mirror at the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards in London. Looking back on the previous year’s cast, where Ruby Bhogal, Rahul Mandal and Kim-Joy competed for the coveted cake stand, she added: ‘the gang this year were exceptional.’ ‘We’ve wept and laughed. The final is more nerve-racking than any other show.’ WENN/Channel 4 Roll on August 27th!
