YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Fashion 7 of the best fashion resale sites to shop at this Second Hand September By You Magazine - September 6, 2019 Here’s a stat that will stop you in your tracks: more than two tonnes of clothing is bought in the UK every single minute. Here’s another: 11 million garments end up in landfill each week – and according to a recent survey, one in five people will throw clothes away rather than recycling them or donating to charity. Getty Images It’s these numbers, plus a whole host of pretty overwhelming others, that have prompted the launch of Oxfam’s Second Hand September, a campaign that’s encouraging us all to think twice about second-hand clothing and, ideally, not buy any new items for the whole of this month. It’s an idea we should all be inspired to get behind, and not just temporarily – but if the thought of rummaging through rails of charity shops makes you anxious rather than excited, fear not. There are now plenty of resale sites online that make it easier than ever to discover preloved items that still have plenty of life left in them. Whether you’re after the vintage handbag of your dreams or need an occasion dress that won’t break the bank, these sites go beyond the realms of eBay bargains and help you to buy second-hand styles that you’ll love for years to come. Here are our go-to destinations for fantastic fashion resale – no matter what you’re shopping for this month, you won’t be stuck for options. Cudoni https://www.instagram.com/p/B2BemzNAZpl/ Prices start from: £40 Cudoni is a UK-based luxury resale service where shoppers can find timeless designer goods which are still in mint condition for less. Shop here for everything from dresses to handbags by major fashion brands. You can even get yourself a pair of Dolce & Gabbana heels for just £55. SHOP NOW Hewi London https://www.instagram.com/p/B1txBxoBaxM/ Prices start from: £8 Luxury resale site HEWI (that’s ‘hardly ever worn it’, by the way) stocks the world’s most coveted fashion labels, specialising in designer clothes, shoes and accessories. Get your hands on luxury handbags from Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors to Marc Jacobs and Gucci for less than £100. SHOP NOW Depop View this post on Instagram A post shared by Depop (@depop) Prices start from: £3 Depop is the most popular social shopping app in the world, with millennials making over six-figure salaries by reselling their old clothes. From high street buys to high-end goods, you’ll find everything on Depop. And much to our delight, that means the price range is very broad too. SHOP NOW Vide Dressing https://www.instagram.com/p/B1tjpgSpVoV/ Prices start from: €20 Vide Dessing allows fashion lovers around the world to connect by not only selling and buying one another’s quality clothes, shoes and accessories but actually talking to one another about style and their favourite brands for inspiration. The European brand sells in euros but does deliver to the UK. SHOP NOW Rewind Vintage View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rewind Vintage Affairs (@rewindvintageaffairs) Prices start from: £140 Rewind is the go-to for vintage and unusual pre-owned luxury handbags and jewellery. Their custom-picked collections include timeless classics from esteemed brands such as Chanel, Celine, Gucci and Hermès as well as other quirky vintage finds. They’re not the most budget-friendly offerings but you can certainly expect to see just a fraction of the original retail prices. SHOP NOW Designer Exchange View this post on Instagram A post shared by Designer Exchange (@designer_exchange_ltd) Prices start from: £30 This is a platform that allows users to exchange their designer goods. For example, if you’ve got an old Mulberry bag that you never wear taking up space in your wardrobe, you could swap it for a used Gucci bag instead. That way, you get something new by trading in an item you no longer use. However, customers can of course also just purchase second-hand bags, accessories and shoes as they wish. SHOP NOW Vestiere Collective View this post on Instagram A post shared by Vestiaire Collective (@vestiaireco) Prices start from: £14 The fashion insider’s secret is out: Vestiere is the destination for those in the know when they’re shopping preowned. Labels range from designer names like Burberry and Joseph to cult favourites like Ganni to more accessible brands like Levi’s – and if you’re in the market for an occasion dress, you’ll find some seriously stunning styles here. Plus the original eBay View this post on Instagram A post shared by ebay.com (@ebay) Prices start from: £1 Ebay is the biggest second hand online retailer in the world so we’re sure you know how it works. Not only can you get everything from electronics to furniture but there’s an excellent range of clothes, shoes and accessories on eBay too, and they’re often at a bargain price. What’s not to love? SHOP NOW Oh and if you’ re popping to the supermarket This month, supermarket chain ASDA has also committed to Second Hand September by launching a pop-up charity clothes shop in their Milton Keynes store. Titled ‘Re-Loved’ the pop-up will be trialled for four weeks, with all proceeds going to Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, which supports Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now. Here’s hoping they roll it out!
