After months of speculation and that video of Prince Harry touting his wife’s skills to Disney boss Bob Iger at the Lion King premiere, it has been announced that former Suits actress has landed a gig doing the voiceover for a brand new original Disney movie, Elephant. Getty Images The film, which is a documentary on the life of elephants, will follow a ‘family’s extraordinary 1,000 mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives’, with the whole story being narrated by Meghan. The majestic beasts at the heart of the film are a family of African elephants – Shani and her spirited son Jomo who are led across the Kalahari Desert by their great matriarch, Gaia. It comes as no surprise that the actress would chose to donate her proceeds to this charity – her husband Prince Harry has long been known for his love of the animal kingdom, taking a keen interest in African conservation projects over the years and becoming the president of African Parks in 2017. Getty Images On stepping down as senior royals earlier this year, the couple said they wanted to be financially independent and free to pursue other projects. Meghan’s latest career move since this announcement hints at the couple’s future career plans, which will likely see the pair using their high profile status to benefit causes close to their hearts. This news was closely followed by the announcement of a second original Disneynature documentary film, Dolphin Reef, which will be narrated by actress Natalie Portman and also available to watch on Disney+ from 3 April.
