News by Tom Phillips Deputy Editor Updated on 4 Dec 2020 5 comments Pokémon Go has announced plans to give away an ultra-rare Shiny version of the already ultra-rare Mythical creature Celebi. It's an eye-catching giveaway, available for a limited time later this month to tie into the release of the upcoming Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, where Shiny Celebi appears. Celebi was first introduced in 1999's Pokémon Gold and Silver. In the 21 years since, there have only been two other opportunities to legitimately snag its pink-coloured Shiny version without cheating: a Japanese cinema ticket promotion earlier this year, and the laborious process of soft-resetting the Virtual Console version of Pokémon Crystal likely several thousand times. Anyway, you should probably catch one in Pokémon Go. The time-limited event runs for a week from Monday 14th December at 8am local time. Other Pokémon featured in Secrets of the Jungle will appear, there will be yet another new hatted Pikachu, and Shiny Rufflet will be available for the first time, from 5km eggs. Brilliantly, the storyline for this event will be presented by Team Rocket's Jessie and James, rather than Professor Willow - another first for Pokémon Go. This week has been a very busy one for Pokémon Go, with the introduction of a new level cap and associated quests, seasonal changes, Gen 6 Pokémon and a corner of England being included in France.
