How to start Rite of Dawning in Destiny 2 Luckily, the process to start Rite of Dawning is fairly straightforward. First, you need to log into the game for The Dawning 2021 event. You have time until January 4th, 2022 to complete this and other seasonal activities. Once there, head over to the Tower, specifically the Courtyard, to find Eva Levante. Talk to her and follow her indications in the introductory quest. This will only take a couple minutes. At one point she will offer you Rite of Dawning, as well as The Pigeon Provides quests, and you'll be all set. Now, let's see what each step entails. How to search for a Red Legion datapad containing festive intel Rite of Dawning in Destiny 2 has a total of 10 steps - but some of them are only quick visits to certain NPCs. As such, we're starting with a brief chat with Zavala, who can be found at the Tower, close to the Courtyard. Zavala asks us to head over to the EDZ and track down the festive intel from Firebase Hades. For this, head to the destinations tab, select the nearest travel point and head over to the firebase using your sparrow. While tracking the quest will pinpoint the location, it didn't become visible for us until we were very close to it. The exact spot is against the western wall, slightly to the south of the base. If you're looking at the map, it's on the same 'line' as the area's name. We still have a while to go, so jump to our next section to for all the details. How to collect a Ceremonial cup The next step involves gathering a specific item as well as hunting schematics from a particular type of enemy. Luckily, you can complete both objectives simultaneously. First, still in Firebase Hades, head over to the Pathfinder's Crash Lost Sector. This is found on the southeastern side of the area, so it's really hard to miss. It's a straightforward enough battle - as you defeat Cabal combatants they will drop the Ritual Schematics. You'll need 25 of these, so if you don't manage to gather them all, just hunt a few more enemies outside. The Ceremonial Cup is retrieved from the chest at the end of the Lost Sector. Getting closer to the end - let's see what's next. How to complete a Rite of Dawning Onto the next step. This one requires for you to complete The Arms Dealer strike, which can be accessed from the EDZ map - it's above the Firebase Hades area. It's a fairly straightforward strike, so you won't have any troubles completing it. Now, you'll have to gather ingredients in order to bake three Dark Chocolate Motes. The Dawning 2021 recipe for it requires 1 Cabal Oil (obtained from defeating powerful Cabal enemies), 3 Null Taste (obtained from inflicting Void damage) and the usual 15 Essence of Dawning. Note that Null Taste is a fairly rare drop - it took us a long while until we got to see just one of them. Thankfully, the drop was more frequent (but still somewhat elusive) afterwards. We recommend switching to Void energy, as well as equipping two Void-based weapons if possible, to increase the chances even further. A good place to farm kills for Null Taste is the Bay of Drowned Wishes in the Dreaming City (thanks to WoW Quests on YouTube for the suggestion) due to the sheer amount of enemies. It's a fairly quick Lost Sector, too, which makes for a great method. Repeat it a couple times and Null Taste is bound to appear soon. Afterwards, go ahead and craft three Dark Chocolate Motes (not to be confused with Chocolate Ship Cookies... speaking from experience). Once ready, head to the Tower and give them to the Drifter. The next step involves for you to complete the Proving Grounds strike, which can be found on Nessus. Bear in mind that if you haven't been up to date with the Season of the Chosen questline, you will need to complete A Challenger Rises first to access the strike. From here it's all rather straightforward. Once done, head over to the tower for another quick chat with Zavala and Eva Levante, respectively.
