Tennessee (36-6, 11-5 SEC) fell to Mississippi State for the first time since 2011. Mississippi State (34-14, 6-10 SEC) gets its fourth consecutive win -- three of which came against ranked opponents. The Bulldogs took two out of three against then-No. 2 Alabama last weekend. Ellen Renfroe (23-4) allowed four hits and struck out eight in seven innings in the loss. Renfroe had a no-hitter going through six innings. All four of Mississippi State's hits came in the seventh inning, highlighted by the two-run homer by Lenahan. Tennessee had a chance to post the first run of the game in the second inning. Geer led off the inning and advanced to second after Taylor Koenig was hit by a pitch with two outs. The Lady Vols, were unable to knock in the run. The Big Orange had another scoring opportunity in the fifth inning. With two outs, Davin singled down the third base line. Shipman walked following Davin's hit but Silkwood struck out Annie Aldrete to get out of the jam. Caroline Seitz broke up Renfroe's no-hitter in the top of the seventh with a leadoff single through the left side. Following the single, Sam Lenahan hit a two-run home run off the scoreboard to help the Bulldogs take a 2-0 lead.
