This Upcoming Action Game Is Basically ‘ Dark Souls’ With Crabs 12 May 2022 by Oisin Kuhnke Another Crab’s Treasure is a brand new ‘shellslike’ game, featuring challenging combat and “way too many crabs.” Yesterday (May 11), Nintendo gave us a treasure trove of indies with its latest Indie World presentation. Unfortunately, there was no Hollow Knight: Silksong news, but we did get the incredible reveal of Another Crab’s Treasure. As noted in a press release, this crustacean focused game is a “soulslike 3D platformer set in a crumbling underwater world plagued by pollution where you play as a timid but brave hermit crab named Kril.“ADVERT ADVERT what’ s it like If that isn’t a good pitch for a soulslike, then we don’t know what is. This is the second game from developer Aggro Crab, who were inspired by games Elden Ring and Sekiro, but wanted to make something more approachable. The developers also wanted to move away from the typical “grimdark medieval castle” aesthetic present in a lot of soulslikes. The game itself apparently has a huge undersea world to explore, with over 50 shells to try on. Players can smite their enemies with powerful Umami Magic. And of course, there are “way too many crabs.“ADVERT ADVERT “I’ve had this game idea about a hermit crab that wears trash as a shell for like six years and nobody would let me do it,” said art director Nick Kaman in a statement. “That’s when Kowloon Nights came in with a fat stack of cash and bankrolled this dumb game about crabs eating garbage and fighting other crabs during the end of the world. Now Another Crab’s Treasure is real and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
