However, it won’t arrive anytime soon. Rumours of Assassin’s Creed having a historic Japanese setting have been making the internet rounds for years. Judging by social media comments, it’s also one of the most requested settings from fans of the series too. Little is known about Codename RED at this time, however, that hasn’t stopped fans from being excited by this announcement.ADVERT ADVERT Credit: Ubisoft Codename RED was revealed during the Assassin’s Creed Showcase over the weekend via the Ubisoft Forward digital event. What do we know about Assassin s Creed Japan We know that it will be developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Jonathan Dumont will be its creative director. Codename Red will be a flagship entry in the series and just like entries since AC Origins, it will be an “open-world RPG” adventure. Credit: TeaserPlay While we currently know next to nothing about Codename RED’s story, the press release provided by Ubisoft tells players that they “will be able to explore a long-awaited setting for an Assassin’s Creed game: feudal Japan and all its shinobi fantasies.”ADVERT ADVERT When will Assassin s Creed Japan be released At this time, we can only guess. Ubisoft hasn’t even revealed a release window. However, going by recent rumours, Assassin’s Creed Japan won’t release until 2024 “at the earliest”. Furthermore, if the 2024 release window is current, it might be safe to assume that it will launch for PC, PS5 as well as Xbox Series XS.
