Joker 2 Might Be A Musical With Lady Gaga Playing Harley Quinn 14 June 2022 by Oisin Kuhnke Joker 2 is officially in the works, and a new rumour suggests that it will be a musical starring Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Last week, director of the first film Todd Phillips shared an image of the cover of the script for Joker 2. As well as an image of Joaquin Phoenix reading it, confirming the return of the actor as the clown prince of crime. Now, a rumour has emerged that singer Lady Gaga, (Stefani Germanotta) will still as Harley Quinn in the sequel, with it potentially being a musical.ADVERT ADVERT View this post on Instagram A post shared by Todd Phillips (@toddphillips) The report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, claiming that Gaga is currently in talks to star in the film. THR makes a point that it isn’t clear if Phillips and co are planning to use other DC characters, or if they will continue to do their own thing. what about the other Harley quinn But Gaga is expected to play Quinn, if the talks go well. It would obviously be a different Harley Quinn than that of Margot Robbie’s. Though DC clearly isn’t going for the cinematic universe angle anymore, with Robert Pattinson playing a different Batman than Ben Affleck. Credit: Warner Bros. The strangest part of the rumour is that THR’s sources claim the sequel will be a musical. There’s no other details on that claim past that, but it sure would strike a different tone from the first film. ADVERT ADVERT Despite some reservations from some fans, Joker did go on to be one of DC’s highest grossing films. And it even managed to get 11 Oscar Nominations, including Leading Actor and Best Picture. So it’s not entirely unsurprising that a sequel is in the works. Why Phillips might have decided to make it a musical is unclear at the moment. For all we know that isn’t even set in stone. So we’ll just have to wait and see what becomes of the film for now.
