A Study to Evaluate a Health and Wellness Coaching Model in Support of Caregivers of Patients with Advanced Lung Cancers

Jacksonville, Fla. Piloting the BeWell360-CG model, in conjunction with usual care delivery for lung cancer patients in Palliative Care, will longitudinally improve the wellbeing and quality of life of care givers within and outside of clinical care settings, in such a way as to positively impact the quality of care of patients themselves. We hypothesize that PC staff trained in the BeWell360-CG will be able to identify the most common CG-centric needs and guide CGs to improve their QoL and personal wellbeing. In doing so, we further hypothesize that there will be an improvement in patient-reported and quality of care outcomes. The objective of this proposal is to pilot a novel, scalable, user-friendly HWC care model– the BeWell360-CG— that is embedded and integrated as part of a palliative approach to care for CGs of patients with advanced lung cancer.

A Study to Evaluate Factors in Breast Cancer Screening Among Asian Americans in Olmsted and Surrounding Counties

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of acculturation, socio-economic status (SES) and place of residence (urban vs. rural) on the level of participation in breast cancer screening programs and on the breast cancer knowledge and beliefs among Asian American women in Olmsted and surrounding counties.

A Study to Analyze Potential Long-term Treatments for Covid-19 Recovery

Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This study aims to further understand the extent of long term effects of COVID-19 via batteries of self-assessment questionnaires focused on the most common complications of SARS-COVID 19 infections including respiratory and cardiovascular symptoms, frailty, fatigue, exercise capacity, cognitive and emotional functionality, and overall quality of life. Furthermore, we will investigate the impact of 4 weeks of respiratory muscle training and nasal breathing on the above mentioned long-term Covid-19 disease complications.

A Study to Evaluate Sex and Age Differences in Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Patients

Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine whether serum biomarkers and comorbidities differ between subjects with hEDS/HSD vs. other non-hypermobile EDS subtypes and whether sex and/or age differences exist, and to determine whether serum biomarkers and comorbidities differ between subjects with hEDS vs. HSD and whether sex and/or age differences exist.

Comparison of Operation to Monitoring With Without Endocrine Therapy For Low Risk DCIS

Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This study looks at the risks and benefits of active surveillance (AS) compared to guideline concordant care (GCC) in the setting of a pragmatic prospective randomized trial for low risk DCIS. Our overarching hypothesis is that management of low-risk Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) using an AS approach does not yield inferior cancer or quality of life outcomes compared to GCC.

Evaluating Mindfulness-Based Intervention with Fibromyalgia Patients

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to study the feasibility of a wearable brain sensing wellness device to provide mindfulness training to fibromyalgia patients.

A Study to Determine the Impact of Individualized Estrogen Therapy on Cardiovascular Disease Risk Parameters in Young Women after Bilateral Oophorectomy

Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to compare the cardiovascular function in young women (< 46 years) following bilateral oophorectomy who are treated with either the standard dose of estradiol (100 mcg transdermal patch or equivalent oral dose) or titrated estradiol dosing to achieve average premenopausal estradiol level (80-120 pg/ml), to characterize the relationship between the serum estradiol level and cardiovascular function in young women (< 46 years) on estradiol replacement after bilateral oophorectomy, and to compare the body composition in young women following bilateral oophorectomy who are treated with either the standard dose of estradiol (100 mcg transdermal patch or equivalent oral dose) or titrated estradiol dosing to achieve average premenopausal estradiol level (80-120 pg/ml).

A Study to Determine the Effect of Distance Reiki on Patient Reported Quality of Life PRQoL and Immunity Among Multiple Myeloma Patients

Rochester, Minn. This study aims to demonstrate acceptability and feasibility of the use of Distance Reiki therapy versus sham Reiki therapy among multiple myeloma patients. It also aims to determine if there is a minimal clinically meaningful improvement in various QOL domains (Physical, Social, Emotional), overall QOL with use of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29) and Single Item Linear Analogue Scale (LASA) after Distance Reik. Lastly, it aims to analyze the effect of Distance Reiki on expansion of the immune repertoire by comparing immune repertoires at baseline and at the end of the study by using Mass spectrometry by CyTOF and multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) sequencing of the T-cell receptors (TCRs) for assessment of immune repertoire diversity by iRepertoire.

A Study to Assess Markers of Aging Process

Rochester, Minn. The purose of this study is to develop assays to identify markers related to aging processes in a variety of biospecimens, including but limited to blood, urine, saliva, buccal swabs, cerebrospinal fluid, tissue, etc. ***Not enrolling for cohort 2 at this time.
