YOU Magazine Fashion Beauty Celebrity Health Life Relationships Horoscopes Food Interiors Travel Home Travel This seaside town has been named the UK s best value holiday destination By You Magazine - February 26, 2021 After the government’s announcement earlier this week that self-contained accommodation can re-open from (earliest) 12 April for single households, staycations are very much back on the cards this summer. And it looks like we’re ready for it: Vrbo, a global expert in family holiday rentals, surveyed over 7,000 British families and asked about their travel habits and plans for 2021 and found that over half (53 per cent) of British families are opting for a summer break in 2021. The promising news from the vaccine rollout has also encouraged 78 per cent of British families to say they do believe they will be able to take a staycation in 2021. Getty Images However, with reports of prices being hiked up to make up for the loss of business over the last 12 months and even then places are still being booked up quicker than you can say staycation, you might be wondering where in the UK you can get the most for your money when it comes to a summer holiday this year. Vrbo has revealed the best value locations to holiday in the UK, so you can plan a holiday to suit you, whatever your budget. Getty Images And the best value staycation destination in the UK? Skegness clinches the top spot, with an average price of £21 paid per person per night in 2020 in the seaside town. Skegness has long been a popular location for British families to holiday, with its plethora of family-friendly attractions and award-winning beach (it has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award multiple times, meaning it is among the cleanest in the world).
