If it takes a painting – with #MashedPotatoes or #TomatoSoup thrown at it – to make society remember that the fossil fuel course is killing us all:

If we have to fight over food, when will you finally start to listen and stop business as usual?”

Twitter: @AufstandLastGen Another group of activists have targeted a world-famous painting with food. Two protesters from climate activist group Letzte Generation completed the stunt at the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany, on Sunday following another similar stunt only a few days earlier in London, when Just Stop Oil protesters threw tomato soup at an iconic Sunflowers painting by Vincent van Gogh. The object in Potsdam was one of Claude Monet’s Meules, or Haystacks, one of a series painted in 1890 and sold at auction in 2019 for over $110 million. On Sunday, it was covered in mashed potato by protesters who then glued their hands to the wall and gave their message to a camera—the footage was uploaded by the group to Twitter shortly after. “People are starving, people are freezing, people are dying,” the protesters said in the video. “We are in a climate catastrophe, and all you are afraid of is tomato soup or mashed potatoes on a painting.” We make this #Monet the stage and the public the audience. If it takes a painting – with #MashedPotatoes or #TomatoSoup thrown at it – to make society remember that the fossil fuel course is killing us all:
