Plant employees stripped them down and possibly removed still salvageable parts. In any case, what's happened has happened. How this affects customers anxiously waiting for delivery remains unclear. Chances are, at least a few are going to have to wait even longer. These photos were taken a few days ago so we wouldn't be surprised if they've already been pancaked. The most GM can do down in Bowling Green is to expedite production to make up for the loss. Z06 production is reportedly already underway and it'll surely be one of 2022's hottest new arrivals. Production of the C8 got off to a rocky start due to the five-week-long UAW strike beginning in September 2019. The pandemic struck not long after that was settled, and then lockdowns began. Once those were somewhat eased, the auto industry at large faced (and still does) supplier issues, further slowing down the final assembly process. Earlier this month, a vicious and deadly storm ripped through the state of Kentucky and left behind significant damage. The Corvette plant in Bowling Green was among that. As we previously reported, the plant was forced to shut down for several days to assess everything and make necessary repairs. That all happened fairly quickly and things are back up and running. However, 122 brand new Corvettes were destroyed beyond repair. There's nothing that can be done to salvage them.
