Cadillac Has Good News About The CT6-V

The CT6-V is both the most exciting and disappointing car Cadillac has produced in the last couple of years. Shortly after announcing the exciting luxury performance sedan, it sold out, so the only way you will be able to enjoy Cadillac's new 4.2-liter Blackwing V8 is to buy a detuned version in the standard CT6. But if you are one of the lucky few able to purchase the rarified CT6-V, you will be treated to a twin-turbo V8 dishing out 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, capable of driving the car up to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This puts the CT6-V on the same playing field as a lot of sports cars and the news just keeps getting better. According to GM Authority, the CT6-V's Blackwing V8 actually produces more torque than initially anticipated. Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac The Society of Automotive Engineers measured the 4.2-liter mill and found it actually produces 640 lb-ft of torque rather than the initially estimated 627 lb-ft. We recently saw a similar discrepancy with the Lincoln Aviator, which went from 450 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque to 494 hp and 630 lb-ft. Though not a massive increase, this healthy bump in torque will be a nice addition to the already impressive CT6-V. It also bodes well for Cadillac's future product portfolio, which is rumored to utilize the Blackwing engine in numerous applications ranging from the new Escalade to performance versions of the CT4 and CT5. Plus, it is always better to underpromise and overdeliver. Cadillac Cadillac Cadillac has faced emissions issues with its new engine, delaying deliveries of the CT6-V. Those issues have reportedly been solved and this little bump in torque is a nice bit of positive news for a company in desperate need of good publicity.
