2019 Nissan Maxima Gets Price Hike To Go With Facelift

Dec. 18, 2018 8:54 AM ET by Noah Joseph Pricing / 5 Comments Given the upgrades, the increase ain't too bad. Nissan has given its flagship Maxima sedan a mid-cycle facelift for 2019. And with the improvements, it's now announced that it's received a bit of a price bump as well.
The new model carries a base price of $33,950, plus a destination charge of $895 (the same as last year). That represents a $530 increase over the 2018 model it replaces. Step up to the SV trim and you'll shell out $35,960 ($540 more). The mid-level SL goes for $38,440 ($600 more), the SR for $39,530 ($850 more), and the top-of-the-line Platinum for $41,440 ($350 more than last year). Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Ranging from $350 to $850 (depending on the trim level selected), the increase in price strikes us as rather reasonable considering the improvements which the 2019 Nissan Maxima brings to bear, and comes in around the same as the price hike applied to the similarly refreshed Murano crossover. The styling has been tweaked and comes with LED lighting. The interior's been refreshed. There are new equipment and packages available, the exterior color pallet expands with the addition of a new Sunset Drift ChromaFlair finish, and of course it rides on new wheels as well. Regardless of trim level, all versions come with the same highly acclaimed VQ engine - a 3.5-liter V6 kicking out 300 horsepower through a continuously variable transmission. Slotting just above the similarly sized Altima, the Maxima stands as Nissan's top sedan - its base price coming in higher than anything it sells short of the 370Z Roadster, GT-R, and Armada sport-ute. It's more expensive, in fact, than the Infiniti QX30 that serves as its premium brand's point of entry (starting at $30,150), and edges pretty close to the $35,550 base price on the Q50 sedan. ?heck new price Nissan Altima.
