Jenson Button' s Ford GT Could Be The Ultimate Celebrity Supercar

With the new Ford GT fast approaching, its 2005 predecessor is bound to hike up in value as examples become increasingly rare. Some purists even prefer it, since it bears a closer resemblance to the original GT40 than the new version. Add a celebrity racing driver to the previous owners list, and it suddenly gets even more desirable, and potentially expensive. This Ford GT just so happens to have been owned by former F1 driver Jenson Button, and will be going to auction at the SilverstoneAuctions Race Retro event later this month. Silverstone Auctions Out of the 4,000 GTs produced by Ford between 2005 and 2006, only 101 examples were sent to Europe at the time. What makes this model even more unique, however, is that it's one of five models marked as a special 'VIP' edition. Button bought it in Geneva back in 2005, before eventually selling it. He then bought it back in 2011, yet it only has 8,350 miles on the clock. Despite being over a decade old, the last-gen GT still holds its own today, packing in a mid-mounted, hand-built supercharged V8 that sends 550 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission that propels it from 0-60 mph in around 3.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 205 mph. Those interested can arrange an early viewing of the celebrity supercar, which is estimated to sell for around $313,000-$376,000 when it goes under the hammer during the auction, which takes place on February 25 and 26.
