Dodge Challenger Redeye Starts Rumbling Off The Assembly Line

Oct. 03, 2018 1:51 PM ET by Noah Joseph / 31 Comments It may not quite be a Demon, but you can actually get one The new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye packs one heck of a punch. But all of that don't mean squat until it's actually rolling off the assembly line and onto the road. Fortunately that's just where it's headed.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has confirmed that the first of the new Redeyes have started rolling out of its assembly plant in Bramton, Ontario – complete with 797 horsepower to make it the world's "most powerful, quickest and fastest muscle car" on the market. That's a big claim, considering some of the competition out there, but the top new Challenger has the muscle to back it up. Dodge The Hellcat Redeye packs a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8, sending 707 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels to back up those 797 horses. That nets it a 0-60 mph time quoted at 3.4 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 10.8 secs, and a top speed of 203 miles per hour. Not bad, considering the barn-door aerodynamic profile evident in the old-school Challenger. But the best part may be its availability. Though the Demon edition boasted as much as 840 horsepower, 770 lb-ft of torque, a 2.3-second 0-60 mph time, and a 9.65-second quarter-mile, it was exceedingly expensive, and long since sold out.
Only 3,300 examples were made, and each sold for nearly $85k. And they've been trading for much more on the second-hand market. The Redeye, by comparison, is still a pricey set of wheels at nearly $70k, but that's still over fifteen grand less than the Demon – and arguably (if not empirically) 95 percent as much machine. And production, in this case, has no cap on it. So you can walk, run, or drive down to your local Dodge dealer, put down your deposit, and expect to get yours as soon as FCA can build it – which is just what it's doing. FCA Dodge Dodge FCA
