2019 Ford F-150 Limited Is Faster Than The Raptor

Dec. 09, 2018 9:00 PM ET by Jay Traugott Trucks / 29 Comments Numbers don't lie. Earlier this year, Ford announced its updated for 2019 F-150 Limited will receive a more powerful version of its current 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine. Rated at 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque last year, it will now offer 450 hp and 510 lb-ft – the same output as the Raptor. We also learned Ford increased the F-150 Limited's price tag from $62,855 to $68,630 for the 4x2, and $66,280 to $72,055 for the 4x4 version. Do the math and that's about a 9 percent price increase. Then again, it now has an additional 75 hp and 60 lb-ft. But Car and Driver recently did a test drive of the 2019 Ford F-150 Limited and discovered something pretty incredible: it's faster than the Raptor. Ford Ford With its 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds, the new F-150 Limited is the second-fastest truck Car and Driver has ever tested. The fastest? The 500 hp Viper-engined 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10. The 2018 Ford Raptor does the 0-60 sprint in 5.7 seconds. The F-150 Limited also managed the quarter-mile in 13.7 seconds at 102 mph, though the old Ram was quite a bit faster, requiring only 10 seconds at 80 mph. Compared to last year's F-150 Limited, the new truck is more than a half-second quicker. Meanwhile, the Raptor's quarter-mile time was 14.5 seconds at 94 mph. Dodge Ford Ford C&D also noted the 2019 F-150 Limited's excellent brakes, which help bring the 5,594-pound truck to a full stop in only 168 feet. It also wears a set of 22-inch Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico all-season tires. Fun comparison: the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has the same stopping power while wearing Pirelli P Zero summer tires. Obviously, these figures all come from C&D and not from Ford, but the publication long ago proved itself dependable. We fully trust its numbers. But the bottom line is this: the 2019 Ford F-150 Limited is the fastest new truck you can buy today. Ford Ford Ford
