A Major Tesla Cybertruck Change Is NOT Happening

Not only is it bulletproof because why the heck not, but its radical exterior design is polarizing and, not surprisingly, is not appealing to a majority of traditional pickup truck buyers. Tesla fans and those new to the truck club typically find the styling more appealing. Whatever your opinion is on the matter, one thing is certain: the Cybertruck is already a sales success. So far, more than 622,000 pre-orders have been placed despite the fact first deliveries won't happen until late 2021. Tesla has yet to even announce which city it's chosen for the new Cybertruck factory. The list has reportedly been narrowed down to just two: Tulsa, Oklahoma or Austin, Texas. We also previously reported that CEO Elon Musk intended to reduce the production version's size by about three percent. The reason for doing so is to allow the Cybertruck to fit in the typical American garage. However, it appears that plan has now changed. Tesla Tesla Tesla https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1264262116954927104 Musk has now just revealed on Twitter that he's reviewed the Cybertruck's design with Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen and the pair came to a conclusion. "Reviewed design with Franz last night. Even 3% smaller is too small. Will be pretty much this size." For reference, the prototype measures at 231.7 inches long, 79.8 inches wide, and 75 inches tall. It's essentially the same size as the largest Ford F-150. Tesla Tesla But for those who still think this is too big of a truck for their needs, relax. There's good news ahead, as Musk added the following: "We'll probably do a smaller, tight world truck at some point." In typical Musk fashion, he provided no additional details like a timeframe. But if the guy says he's going to do something, recent history has proven he'll make it happen. In the meantime, we're expecting to hear an official announcement from Musk, very likely on Twitter, regarding the winning city for the new factory (our money is on Austin). Not only will the production-spec Cybertruck be as big as the prototype, but it appears Tesla has bigger truck plans than everyone realized. Its next targets: the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma.
