Honda Civic Type R Pace Car Is A Hardcore Hot Hatch

It's been a rather good year for the Honda Civic Type R, mostly centered around the reveal of the track-focused Type R Limited Edition. It's a car that went on to break a major lap record and was announced as the official safety car for the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). The motorsport world continues to put its faith in Honda's hot hatch because the brand has just unveiled the Type R Pace Car, which is set to take its place in the NTT Indycar Series for the Bommarito Automotive Group's doubleheader race this weekend. It'll be held at the World Wide Technology Raceway close to St. Louis, Missouri. Honda Honda Honda Honda Honda used the stock 2020 Civic Type R as a base for the new pace car before spicing up the styling with Boost Blue paint and custom graphics. Various upgrades were made to the dynamics, engine cooling system, and braking to better prepare the Type R for its pace car duties. Those brakes make use of racing pads, competition rotors, and stainless steel brake lines. It retains the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that generates 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which allows the stock Type R to hit 60 in around five seconds. The pace car further gains an interior safety roll cage and four-point racing harnesses. One of the Type R's best attributes, that superb six-speed manual gearbox, remains in place. Honda Honda Honda Honda Art St. Cyr, the vice president of Auto Operations for America Honda, was upbeat about the Type R Pace Car being chosen for the NTT Indycar Series. "As the fastest production front-wheel-drive car in the world, the 2020 Honda Civic Type R is a perfect match for Pace Car duties," he said. Having already competed in the SRO Touring Car America racing series, the Type R continues to prove its mettle as both one of the most entertaining hot hatchbacks for the road and a capable track tool, too.
