It's rare that something goes wrong during an iOS upgrade, but in case it does, it's crucial that you have a fresh copy of your data that you can restore onto your phone. Once you've backed up your iPhone, connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi. You can use 4G or 5G, also, but Wi-Fi is often faster and doesn't have any monthly data limits (iOS updates are big files that use a lot of data!). With that done, tap Settings. Tap General.
