To play a Blu-ray on a Windows 11 device, it’ll need to have either a built-in Blu-ray disc drive or an external drive connected via USB and an app to play the Blu-ray disc. Once you have the drive set up and the software installed, here’s how you can use it to play a Blu-ray disc. Connect the external Blu-ray disc drive to your Windows 11 computer via an available USB port. If your Windows 11 computer has a built-in drive, it should already be powered on so you don’t need to do anything. If using an external Blu-ray drive, make sure it’s placed on a flat surface such as a table or book. Insert a Blu-ray disc into the Blu-ray drive. Open your Blu-ray player app. For this example, we’ll use PlayerFab, which has a 30-day free trial. Download PlayerFab In most cases, you can use any Blu-ray player app to play Blu-rays on Windows 11. Many external Blu-ray drives come with a free copy of a player app though you can download another one from the app store if you like. After a few seconds, the Blu-ray player app should detect the disc and display its information. Select the Play icon to load the Blu-ray. Some DVD and Blu-ray player apps on Windows 11 may use a text-heavy menu system which will require you to browse for a disc drive. If this is the case, look for a menu item such as File or Drive. Your Blu-ray should play on your Windows 11 device as if it were playing on a Blu-ray player on your TV. Some Blu-ray player apps may support touch or mouse controls though usually, you can use the Enter and arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate menus. You’re using the wrong VLC app. There are two main official VLC apps that can be downloaded for free.
