Magaluf tried to impose a drinking ban it didn' t go very well

Evan BartlettJun 10, 2015 Authorities in the Spanish party town of Magaluf have imposed a public drinking ban... not that British tourists seem to have taken much notice. The seaside resort in Majorca, fondly known as "Shagaluf" owing to its reputation for binge drinking and promiscuity, is a popular haunt of young holidaymakers. But law-makers and local residents have grown increasingly angry at rowdy bar crawls, drunken tourists injuring themselves and general public disorder. The new ban which came into effect on Tuesday sees mandatory uniforms for those on pub crawls, arrests for anyone encouraging antisocial behaviour and £500 fines for urinating on the street. But subsequent video footage and photographs from the resort showed holidaymakers drinking on the street, chanting at the tops of their voices and, on more than one occasion, falling over. When asked about the new rules, one reveller, who may or may not have had a drink or two, said: "They can f--k off. We're here for a reason, we're here to get f--king mortal, we're here to just love life, ken what I mean?" We're not here to f--king worry about drinking on the street... We're f--king here to get mortal on the street. I don't give a s--t. Fine me, do whatever you want, I'm going to get f--king mortal on the street. And off she wandered into the night, to get f--king mortal on the street...
