In footage caught off the coast of Mexico's Baja California peninsula which was posted by biologist Mauricio Hoyos Padilla, the diver can be seen in the water where the 20ft shark is swimming before retreating back into the cage. On his Facebook page, Hoyos described the shark as the biggest ever seen near the island of Guadalupe. The researcher from the University of California appeared in a Discovery Channel documentary based near the island last year in which a team of scientists geotagged the shark dubbed 'Deep Blue':
