Tom Hardy had the greatest reaction to a journalist asking about men and Mad Max

Dina RickmanMay 28, 2015 An image capturing Tom Hardy's look of disdain after a journalist asked him if he was concerned about the lack of men in Mad Max has gone viral - for all the right reasons. The exchange was from a Cannes Q&A earlier this month to promote Max Max: Fury Road. We've reproduced Toronto Star film critic Peter Howell's full question and Hardy's answer below: Howell: I have a question for Tom Hardy. Tom, I’ll preface my remarks by saying that I have five sisters, a wife, a daughter and a mother so I know what it's like to be outgunned by oestrogen. But I just wanted to ask you, as you were reading the script did you ever think 'why are all these women in here. I thought this was supposed to be a man's movie?' Hardy: No. [Laughter] Not for one minute... [Female voice off-camera]: Good for you Hardy: That’s kind of obvious. But like, but also in reference to the concept of having a script, that would have been nice. It's about 9.50 minutes in on the video below: Earlier in May Aaron Clarey, a prominent men’s rights activist, called for a boycott of Mad Max: Fury Road, describing it as “feminist propaganda” on the basis that it stars Charlize Theron as bald-headed warrior Furiosa alongside Hardy’s Mad Max.
