Evan BartlettJun 18, 2015 Two Nintendo games designers have revealed just how much things have changed over the years. Shigeru Miyamoto and Takeshi Tezuka, who have been working together for 20 years, described the painstaking effort that went into designing the first Super Mario games in a video posted on the company's YouTube channel (below). Back in the day we had to create everything by hand. To design courses we would actually draw them one at a time onto these sheets of graph paper. We'd then hand our drawings to the programmers who would code them into a build.Takeshi Tezuka They revealed Things would quickly get messy however if they wanted to make an edit to the original drawing and they eventually began developing a new software programme to help design the famous side-scrolling games instead. Nintendo will soon release Super Mario Maker which is a consumer-facing version of the software the pair used to design their side-scrolling games of bygone years.
